Job description

This is a remote-based position in Mexico located in Mexico City or Monterrey.

Calix provides the cloud, software platforms, systems, and services required for communication service providers to simplify their businesses, excite their subscribers, and grow their value.

Our team is growing, and we're looking for an IT Systems Administrator to administer on-premises and cloud-based systems and services.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Administration of:
    • Build, configure, and deploy Linux-based servers, workstations, and virtual systems including software, authentication, file sharing services to support heterogeneous environments.
    • NetApp Storage and associated tools.
    • Windows-based systems.
    • Backups.
  2. Manage various levels of service requests:
    • Field requests that require review of infrastructure configuration.
    • Initial troubleshooting of user settings and application settings.
  3. Assist in critical incident support and resolution:
    • Analyze logs and related events to identify initial reported issues and possible downstream issues causing the reported event.
  4. Document system configuration and procedures.
  5. Identify and resolve a wide range of issues:
    • Leverage experience to resolve recurring issues quickly.
    • Handle issues rarely seen or not seen before.
  6. Collaborate with internal personnel at all levels of the organization:
    • Understand requirements and propose solutions.
  7. Collaborate with external partners:
    • Work with vendors to stay current on updates to existing technologies.
    • Perform health checks and review best practices.
Qualifications:
  • 8-10 years of experience in IT or related Systems Administration role.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organization skills.
  • Ability to evaluate and prioritize tasks in an evolving environment.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with business processes and policies.
  • Ability to analyze data and recommend solutions that balance business risk with minimal service interruptions.
  • Ability to identify root causes of issues.
  • Availability for off-hours meetings to support offshore teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
Preferred Experience:
  • Linux Systems Administration.
  • Enterprise automation technologies and scripting (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Bash, Perl, Python, etc.).
  • Horizon VDI.
  • End User Support.
  • Computer Security.
  • Network Attached Storage (NetApp experience).
  • Server hardware and operating systems (Dell, Cisco UCS, Windows Server, Linux, RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu).
  • Virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM).
  • Data backup and protection (Veritas Enterprise Backup).
  • Rubrik.
  • Device Management (ZScaler).
  • User Authentication (LDAP, IPA, Active Directory).
  • User Access controls.
  • File Systems (CIFS, NFS).
  • GIT source code management.
  • VNC.
  • DNS / BIND / DHCP.
  • Docker, Kubernetes.
Location:
  • This is a remote-based position in Mexico located in Mexico City or Monterrey.
