Job summary

Ascendo Resources is seeking a Local IT Systems Administrator to oversee the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and support of our on-site information technology infrastructure. You will manage the office server room, LAN, wireless networking, and end-user devices, with a focus on Linux-based workstations.

Responsibilities include configuring hardware, supporting printers and conference room tech, managing asset lifecycle, and administering badge access and security cameras.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience supporting office IT infrastructure, end-user computing, or systems administration.
  • Experience with Ethernet switching, TCP/IP networking, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, and wireless networking.
  • Experience supporting Linux desktop systems; familiarity with Windows and macOS is desirable.
  • Knowledge of server hardware, rack-mounted equipment, UPS systems, and basic server administration.
  • Experience with structured network cabling standards and installation best practices.
  • Experience managing wireless access point infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with IT asset management and inventory control.
  • Experience supporting printers, conference room technology, and common office peripherals.
  • Working knowledge of physical security technologies such as badge access systems and IP security cameras.
  • Understanding of IT security best practices, endpoint protection, patch management, backups, and access control.
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Linux+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent are desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain the office server room, including physical server hardware, UPS systems, rack infrastructure, environmental monitoring, and equipment organization.
  • Manage and maintain the office local area network, including switches, routers, firewalls, VLANs, structured cabling, and network documentation.
  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot wired and wireless network infrastructure to ensure reliable connectivity throughout the facility.
  • Provide end-user technical support for desktop and laptop systems, with a primary focus on Linux-based workstations.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computer hardware, operating systems, peripherals, printers, docking stations, monitors, and related office technology.
  • Manage IT hardware inventory, including procurement coordination, asset tracking, deployment, lifecycle management, and equipment disposal.
  • Configure and support employee onboarding and offboarding activities, including workstation setup, equipment assignment, and account coordination.
  • Administer physical access control systems including employee badge management and access permissions.

Job description

Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Network Administration, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
