Job summary

Exail Robotics Belgium is seeking an IT System Engineer to design and implement the IT stack for our unmanned vehicles. Based in Ostend, you will deploy software, validate reliability and security, and maintain our servers and networks.

You will collaborate with hardware and software teams, automate deployment, and support navy-related deployments as needed. English and French or Dutch are required.

Qualifications

• You have at least a bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering.
• You have strong problem-solving and analytical mindset.
• You have excellent interpersonal skills enabling collaboration with users and specialists.
• You understand software/IT stacks with multiple databases.
• You know Agile development and CI/CD.
• You are familiar with virtualization (VMware) and Docker/Podman, plus Windows and Linux.
• You can write scripts (PowerShell, Bash).
• Knowledge of networking (L2/L3).

Responsibilities

• Deploy and test proprietary software on new platforms and update existing installations with new features.
• Verify compatibility between hardware and software.
• Automate deployment and test routines when needed.
• Act as primary contact for final validation of software evolutions with focus on reliability and security.
• Maintain internal infrastructure (servers, networking, communication stack) with the support team.
• Assist the support team with issue analysis, fixes, and new feature deployments.
• Travel to client navy bases if required for deployment or validation.

YOUR TASKS

Are you passionate about complex IT-systems and want to participate in the implementation of the latest generation of unmanned vehicles? Do you like hands‑on work, challenging projects and like to manipulate all aspects of the IT stack? Then the role of IT System Engineer is a great opportunity to join large‑scale projects in a cutting‑edge technological environment.

Based in a new generation drone factory and surrounded by innovative unmanned vehicles, you are in charge of the design and implementation of the IT stack running our software. Exail Robotics develops its own software for the mission and data management of its unmanned vehicles, as well as the infrastructure hosting it. As an all‑round IT specialist, you are the reference regarding integration of software and hardware evolutions on our platforms.

Deployment and Updates

• You deploy and test our proprietary software on new platforms, as well as updating existing installations with new features and updates.

• You verify compatibility between hardware and software.

• When necessary, you automate deployment and test routines.

Testing & Validation

• You are the primary contact person for the last stages of validation for software evolutions, providing clear feedback to the software teams regarding the state of the software, with special attention to reliability and security aspects.

Infrastructure maintenance

• Together with our support team, you maintain our internal infrastructure (servers, networking, communication stack.

Navy Support

• When required, you assist our support team with the analysis and correction of issues, as well as the deployment of fixes and new features.

YOUR PROFILE

• You have at least abachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering and relevant working experience.
• You have solidproblem-solvingskills and an analytical mindset.
• You have solid inter-personal skills enabling you to interact both with users as well as software and hardware specialists.
• You have profound knowledge ofsoftware/IT stackscontaining various user interfaces, live connections and multiple databases.
• You understand whatAgile developmentandCICDis.
• Knowledge ofvirtualizationtechniques (VMWare) and docker/podman type tools;Windows OS (mainly) and Linux.
• Experience writing scripts (Powershell, Bash).
• Network knowledge: layer2/3 networking.
• Experience in automating deployment processes (Jenkins, Ansible) and testing is a nice to have.
• You are proficient in English and French or Dutch.
• Employment is based inOstend. You are willing to travelto client navy bases if necessary.
