Job summary

Magna International Limited's Magna Exteriors unit seeks an experienced IT Operations Manager to lead the information technology department across production and office environments. You will oversee hardware, networking, security, and ensure uptime, uptime, and compliance with Magna standards.

The role emphasizes coaching, staff development, hiring, performance reviews and continuous improvement, with a strong focus on safety and collaboration within a global manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operations of the Information Technology department
• Select, purchase, implement and maintain all systems related hardware (Servers, PCs, Printers, Scanners, Routers, Switches, etc)
• Design and maintain internal communication networks
• Ensure OS and backup software are up to date and functioning properly
• Ensure systems are patched as required and virus protection is up to date on all systems
• Ensure safe working conditions for employees in areas of supervision
• Provide training and development to employees
• Coach, counsel, motivate and provide technical support to direct reports
• Interviews and helps to select candidates for hire
• Conducts performance appraisals on direct reports in a timely manner
• Applies disciplinary actions when necessary
• Encourages continuous improvement within the department
• Maintains an acceptable attendance record
• Supervises: IT Project Leaders, IT Techs
• Oversees internal safety audits
• Coordinates IT coverage of production related activities
• Approves time sheets, leaves and vacations
• Documents activities; submits cost reductions and innovation ideas
• Provide input into department policies and procedures
• Performs other tasks as assigned

Job Responsibilities

Specific Job Duties

• Responsible for the operations side of the Information Technology department

• Applies disciplinary actions when necessary
• Encourages continuous improvement within the department
• Maintains an acceptable attendance record
• Supervises: IT Project Leaders, IT Techs
• Oversees that internal safety audits are being performed
• Coordinates IT coverage of production related activities
• Approves time sheets, leaves and vacations
• Completes documentation of activities as requiredSubmits cost reductions and Innovation ideas and encourages direct reports to do the same

Skills/Experience Required

• Required - IT related work experience (5 - 10 yrs)
• Preferred - IT experience in an automotive and/or manufacturing background (2 - 4 yrs)
• Preferred - IT supervisory experience (2 - 4 yrs)
• Must have strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
• Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills (8D methodology)
• Must have excellent computer skills
• Must have good math skills

Educational Requirements

• Required - B.S. or B.A. in Computer or Technology field
• Preferred - B.S. in Computer or Technology related field
• In special circumstances, candidates who have not met the required education, but have substantial manufacturing work experience that is applicable to the job may be considered.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to at least meet the physical demands as defined by the current production requirements and the job function evaluation. See job function evaluation in the Occupational Nurse’s office for more details.
• Office environment. Spends considerable time in manufacturing environment using normal PPE and safety precautions.
