FM Industries in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an IT System Administrator / Cyber Security Analyst to design, implement, and maintain enterprise IT infrastructure while proactively managing the organization’s security posture.

You will administer Windows and Linux servers, AD, networking, virtualization, and cloud services; monitor SIEM, conduct vulnerability management, incident response, and help enforce regulatory controls with strong written and verbal communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent combination.
• 5+ years in systems administration, with at least 2 years in a security-focused role.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux administration, Active Directory, and enterprise networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls).
• Experience with SIEM platforms, vulnerability scanners, EDR, and firewall management consoles.
• Understanding of security frameworks and regulatory requirements relevant to the industry.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and incident response skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
• Manage virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and storage/backup infrastructure.
• Oversee patch management, system upgrades, and lifecycle replacement of servers and network hardware.
• Monitor system performance and capacity; identify and resolve bottlenecks or failures.
• Provide Tier 3 technical support and escalation for complex infrastructure issues.
• Monitor SIEM, firewalls, and IDS/IPS for anomalous activity; coordinate remediation.
• Support incident response activities and post-incident reviews.
• Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures aligned with NIST/ISO.
• Support audits, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance (HIPAA, PCI-DSS, SOC 2).
• Mentor junior staff and collaborate on IT/security projects.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise IT infrastructure alongside proactive management of the organization's information security posture. This position combines hands-on systems administration — servers, networks, storage, and virtualization — with security analysis duties including vulnerability management, threat monitoring, incident response, and compliance support. The ideal candidate is a seasoned IT professional who can operate independently, mentor junior staff, and serve as a technical escalation point for both infrastructure and security matters.

• Administer, configure, and maintain Windows and/or Linux server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
• Manage virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and associated storage and backup infrastructure.
• Oversee patch management, system upgrades, and lifecycle replacement of servers, workstations, and network hardware.
• Monitor system performance and capacity, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks or failures.
• Administer core enterprise applications, directory services, and cloud infrastructure (e.g., Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS).
• Provide Tier 3 technical support and serve as an escalation point for complex infrastructure issues.
• Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) tools, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems for anomalous activity.
• Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation with system owners and administrators.
• Support incident response activities, including detection, containment, eradication, and post-incident review.
• Develop, review, and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures in alignment with industry frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS, ISO 27001).
• Support internal and external security audits, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance efforts (e.g., HIPAA, PCI-DSS, SOC 2, as applicable).
• Perform security awareness training and phishing simulation programs for staff.
• Evaluate and recommend new security tools, technologies, and best practices to strengthen the organization's security posture.
• Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, security controls, and standard operating procedures.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior systems administrators and IT support staff.
• Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours system and security incidents.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on IT projects, infrastructure upgrades, and security initiatives.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in systems administration, with at least 2 years in a security-focused role.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux administration, Active Directory, and enterprise networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls).
• Demonstrated experience with security tools such as SIEM platforms, vulnerability scanners, endpoint detection and response (EDR), and firewall management consoles.
• Solid understanding of security frameworks and regulatory requirements relevant to the organization's industry.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and incident response skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
