Job summary

The United States Courts in Tampa, FL seeks an IT support specialist to provide help desk assistance, maintain networks and software, and support both local and national systems. You will ensure reliable IT operations and deliver expert user support.

Responsibilities include installing and troubleshooting hardware/software, supporting Microsoft 365 apps, managing mobile devices and AV equipment, documenting standard procedures, and upholding judiciary security standards.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of IT systems, hardware, software, and data communications.
  • Understanding of LAN/WAN networking and cybersecurity principles. Experience preferred
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex technical problems.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills, both in writing and in person.
  • Applicant should be able to work well within a team or individually, prioritize tasks, and make technical conclusions through methodical evaluation.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Learn court policies, procedures, and abide by confidentiality requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills and interpersonal skills with attention to detail and follow-through on responsibilities.
  • Explicit troubleshooting methodology expectation for technical problem solving and research
  • Microsoft Office 365 certification preferred. CompTIA A+ and Net+ certifications preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills, the ability to serve with a wide variety of users tactfully, and the desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use sound judgment. Professional attire, demeanor, and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to independently prioritize and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision while proactively identifying additional work and opportunities to provide support.
  • Must demonstrate strong attention to detail, follow instructions and established procedures, and ensure completed work is accurate, organized, thorough, and consistent with departmental standards.

  • Support mobile devices (phones, tablets, laptops) and Apple operating systems (iOS/macOS).
  • Maintain and support courtroom audio-visual equipment and evidence presentation systems.
  • Collaborate with IT staff across divisions to standardize systems and practices.
  • Maintain documentation for user guides, systems, and applications.
  • Manage IT inventory lifecycle, including logistics, receiving, tracking, data entry, and deployment.
  • Assist in IT project implementation, integration, and system improvements.
  • Build awareness of judiciary security standards and policies, and comply with standards of system security, data integrity, and confidentiality.

Overview of the Position This position in the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida, is for providing information technology support to users, computer systems, networks, and software applications.
