IT Strategy & Innovation Director- Chief of Staff (IT Strategy & Innovation Dir)

Location: This role requires associates to be in-office3days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace. The ideal candidate will be located in Chicago, IL,however, alternate locations may be considered.

The IT Strategy & Innovation Director- Chief of Staff serves as a strategic extension of the technology leadership team, operating as a connector between IT, business units, and digital innovation teams. Will partner directly with business leaders, CIOs, and product executives to drive transformation, align enterprise roadmaps, and accelerate the adoption of future-ready technology. This position requires a deep understanding of Innovation, strategy execution and driving transformation in order to translate complex IT capabilities into actionable outcomes and drive clarity, orchestration, and impact across initiatives.

How you will make an impact:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business unit leaders and CIOs, aligning local strategies with Elevance's enterprise IT vision.
  • Drive ideation-to-implementation execution, accelerating and ensuring transformation efforts stay aligned to business priorities.
  • Act as a technology ambassador to both internal stakeholders and external partners, translating Carelon capabilities into enterprise impact.
  • Lead and support strategic partner evaluations (M&A, build-buy activities), ensuring alignment between innovation, infrastructure, and strategic investment.
  • Own stage-gate frameworks and support transformation initiatives through planning, alignment, and governance.
  • Collaborate across Carelon and enterprise digital teams to commercialize platforms, products, and digital solutions that enhance operational excellence.
  • Support IT and business partners with budget management, financials and funding guidance.
  • Represent IT in client facing discussions to support growth, retention, and technology-enables business evolution.
  • Advancing innovative solutions that support business growth.
  • Champion cross-functional efforts that elevate digital maturity across domains, reduce friction, and reinforce Elevance's differentiating capabilities.
  • Influence the delivery of new technology solutions to market faster.

Minimum Requirements:

Requires an BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and a minimum of 15 years experience in technology, product management, strategic planning, and/or consulting, or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

  • Experience with innovation, strategy execution and driving transformation particularly in a digital transformation and strategic enablement environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience partnering with CXO's and Senior Leaders across Product, Technology, Operations, and Digital strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with agile governance, transformation offices, and value stream delivery models preferred.
  • Ability to influence, align, and drive action across the enterprise preferred.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and aligning diverse stakeholders around shared outcomes preferred.
  • Deep understanding of digital product lifecycles, innovation cycles, and tech-enables care delivery models preferred.
  • Storytelling expertise to communicate at the C-level and manage downstream deliverables preferred.
  • Experience in a healthcare or health plan environment preferred.

For candidates working in person or virtually in the below location(s), the salary* range for this specific position is $167,112 to $250,668.

Locations: Illinois
