General Summary

Under the direction of the DBA Specialist, IT Manager, or the Director, the Senior DBA manages and maintains all production and non-production databases, software systems, and third-party IT products. This role leads planning, design, development, release management, troubleshooting, and support of database components and related systems. Responsibilities include designing physical data storage, maintenance, access, security administration, troubleshooting application and data issues, and communicating solutions and risks to management. The Senior DBA ensures security, backup, recovery, and configuration of database systems, optimizes database access, and supports multiple high-impact, complex databases with multiple users, ensuring data control, integrity, and accessibility. The role involves production support, including on-call duties, and participation in new projects. The ideal candidate will have led database development projects, advised on technologies, and mentored less experienced staff.

Education And Experience

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
• 7 years of relevant experience, including 5 years as a DBA; healthcare experience preferred.
• Knowledge of healthcare industry and COTS products.
• Understanding of major EHR solutions.
• Knowledge of server virtualization technologies.
• Ability to work off-hours in a 24x7 support environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven peer review and independent working abilities.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
