Major Duties

  • Leads IT systems and daily operation of the enterprise architecture necessary to ensure the successful implementation of an integrated Department of Defense (DoD) network.
  • Analyzes system requirements, selects architectures to meet the business requirements of the organization, and develops transition plans and strategies for achieving the target architecture.
  • Prepares appropriate documentation in support of hardware, software acquisitions to meet end user IT and Information Management requirements.
  • Serves as a primary subject matter technical expert for IT and Information Management system administration and management.
  • Provides input to senior management and assists with the establishment of policy, procedures, and other guidance as it relates to IT and information management associated with daily operation, projects, and COOP plans.

Qualification Summary

To qualify for a IT Specialist (SYSADMIN), your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. To qualify at the GS-14 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: (If two-graded, include specialized experience for each grade level.) GS-13: Analyzes system requirements, selects architectures to meet the business requirements of the organization, and develops transition plans and strategies for achieving the target architecture. Conducts risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information management systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs. Performs functions associated with troubleshooting, rebuilding, and reconfiguring multiple computer platforms and operating systems for the program and supported customers. GS-14: Serves as subject matter technical expert for IT and Information Management System administration and management. Provides input to senior management and assists with the establishment of policy, procedures and other guidance associated with daily operations, projects and COOP plans. Functions as a primary hardware and software configuration engineer for related IT systems to include configuration of both functional and performance design. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Compensation:
$120,579-$185,234 per year
