Job summary

U.S. Fleet Forces Command is seeking an IT Specialist to oversee Systems and Network Administration for multiple Windows and Unix servers and to manage cybersecurity for interconnected enclaves supporting CMSA LANT.

You will provide advanced technical support, plan and maintain INFOSEC systems and mission-critical TLAM/HSW networks, and participate in cyber security tasks, asset lifecycle, configuration and change management, and essential project work. Strong DoD IT experience is expected.

Qualifications

  • Experience in IT supporting Windows and Unix servers with cybersecurity focus.
  • Familiarity with virtualized environments (Hyper-V, VMware) and Linux admin.
  • Knowledge of DoD INFOSEC policies and secure network management.
  • Ability to document, plan, and execute IT projects and incident response.

Job description

Duties
  • You will be responsible for Systems and Network Administration for numerous physical and virtual Microsoft Windows and Unix servers and managing the cybersecurity (INFOSEC) posture of multiple interconnected, classified enclaves for CMSA LANT.
  • You will provide the department(s) with advanced technical support, planning, installing, administering, and maintaining CMSA LANT's specialized INFOSEC systems and mission critical TLAM and HSW systems and networks.
  • You will be involved in customer service, administrative and technical writing, IT asset lifecycle management, configuration management, change management, problem management, cyber security, and certain facets of project management.
  • You will conduct threat and vulnerability assessments to assess and identify risks and determine effective corrective measures.
  • You will perform routine server maintenance (installation, updates, and upgrades) in accordance with DoD guidelines and INFOSEC policies using best business practices within established deadlines.
  • You will serve as the command network administrator responsible for the planning, design, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, problem resolution and network asset management.
  • You will serve as a Customer Support Team Lead and a subject matter expert regarding Windows client computers, SharePoint site collection administration, standard office software products, and other non-standard software.
  • You will perform all stages of Inventory Management and Lifecycle Replacement for computers, printers, software, peripheral devices, and other IT equipment within the command.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code IT SPECIALIST, proficiency level INTERMEDIATE the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.

Your Resume Must Also Demonstrate At Least One Year Of Specialized Experience At Or Equivalent To The (GS-11) Grade Level Or Pay Band In The Federal Service Or Equivalent Experience In The Private Or Public Sector. Specialized Experience Must Demonstrate The Following

  • Responsible for the professional field of IT consisting of Information concepts, principles, and practices relating to the interrelationships of multiple IT disciplines such as hardware integration, operating systems, cybersecurity and application software for mission critical networked systems interconnected between differing levels of security classifications and under differing cognizant security authorities. Routinely interpreting and making decisions and/or recommendation affecting the command's policies and programs.
  • Responsible for the operating systems and virtualization software (e.g. Windows Server, Hyper-V, VMware, and Linux operating environment), Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux Workstation, data storage virtualization hardware and techniques (e.g., fault tolerance, redundant array of independent disks (RAID) installation and configuration), directory services (e.g., Microsoft Active Directory), systems management software (e.g., Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)) sufficient to evaluate and verify impacts on the current and planned CMSA LANT and TLAM Federation System architectures.
  • Responsible for Cisco networking devices/applications (e.g. Cisco Router/Switch Internetworking Operating System (IOS), Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)) and cyber security tools/appliances (e.g. Nessus Security Center, SolarWinds Orion and Security Event Manager, Splunk, Cisco Secure Firewalls) to include bandwidth management concepts and IT security methods sufficient to implement networks that support mission requirements. Master in applying cyber security principles, methods, and tools to design, develop, implement, and manage systems and data to ensure confidentiality, integrity and availability. Practical knowledge of Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) and Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS).
  • Responsible for integrating the aforementioned multiple IT specialty areas needed to plan, design and implement systems/networking projects and develop innovative strategies for resolving system/network implementation integration issues. Ability to analyze cause of system failures, evaluates processing impact and develops alternatives for all system failures and situations to include "quick fixes" for the restoration of production on multiple mission critical systems/ networks. Knowledge in developing and executing recovery plans to fully restore all IT operational assets. Comprehensive knowledge of DOD and agency policies, procedures, regulations, directives, and requirements related to information security. This knowledge is used in the development of guidance and procedures to identify system or network problems, vulnerabilities, and/or potential security violations through complex audit log aggregation and analysis across multiple systems and networks of differing classifications and time zones.
  • Responsible for creating and providing technical documentation for all information systems, networks, and associated applications. High level of proficiency in troubleshooting and triaging problems to understand and communicate mission impact and makes recommended corrective actions. Master of coordinating research teams, conducting root cause analysis, and working with other directorates to establish priorities for IT investments.
