Job summary

EasternCompanies is seeking an IT Specialist to manage the Microsoft 365 environment and support our technology infrastructure across offices and job sites. You will handle identity and access, endpoint security, device compliance, network services, servers, monitoring, and IT asset management.

You will help maintain documentation and compliance evidence for federal contracting obligations, including NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC Level 2.

Qualifications

  • Four or more years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 and Windows environments.
  • Tenant-level experience administering Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft Intune.
  • Experience administering Exchange Online and SharePoint Online.
  • Proficiency with PowerShell scripting and administrative automation.
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts and technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, and DNS.
  • Working knowledge of endpoint protection technologies, including EDR, antivirus, and vulnerability-management tools.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the Microsoft 365 environment, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, and OneDrive.
  • Manage Microsoft Entra ID, including user accounts, licensing, multifactor authentication, conditional access, and the employee account lifecycle.
  • Implement and maintain phishing-resistant or hardware-key authentication for privileged accounts.
  • Administer Microsoft Intune for device enrollment, configuration, compliance, and patch management.
  • Maintain core network services, including firewalls, VPNs, Wi‑Fi, DNS, and certificates.
  • Support Windows and Linux servers through patching, monitoring, backups, and periodic restoration testing.
  • Deploy and monitor endpoint detection and response and antivirus solutions across managed devices.
  • Conduct vulnerability scans and coordinate remediation within established service-level expectations.
  • Coordinate with technology vendors and managed service providers.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours infrastructure issues.

Role Summary

The IT Specialist is responsible for administering Eastern Companies’ Microsoft 365 environment and supporting the technology infrastructure across our offices and job sites. This position will manage identity and access, endpoint security, device compliance, network services, servers, system monitoring, and IT asset management.

The IT Specialist will also help maintain the documentation, security controls, and compliance evidence required for federal contracting obligations, including NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC Level 2 requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer the Microsoft 365 environment, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, and OneDrive.
  • Manage Microsoft Entra ID, including user accounts, licensing, multifactor authentication, conditional access, and the employee account lifecycle.
  • Implement and maintain phishing-resistant or hardware-key authentication for privileged accounts.
  • Administer Microsoft Intune for device enrollment, configuration, compliance, and patch management.
  • Manage the company’s mobile device fleet, mobile device management platform, and carrier accounts.
  • Maintain core network services, including firewalls, VPNs, Wi-Fi, DNS, and certificates.
  • Support Windows and Linux servers through patching, monitoring, backups, and periodic restoration testing.
  • Deploy and monitor endpoint detection and response and antivirus solutions across managed devices.
  • Conduct vulnerability scans and coordinate remediation within established service-level expectations.
  • Support employee onboarding and offboarding, equipment recovery, and IT asset inventory management.
  • Automate routine administrative tasks using PowerShell.
  • Ensure system and security logs are collected, centrally retained, and available for SIEM ingestion when applicable.
  • Maintain documentation and compliance evidence supporting NIST SP 800-171, CMMC Level 2, Controlled Unclassified Information handling, and access-control requirements.
  • Coordinate with technology vendors and managed service providers.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours infrastructure issues.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Four or more years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 and Windows environments.
  • Tenant-level experience administering Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft Intune.
  • Experience administering Exchange Online and SharePoint Online.
  • Proficiency with PowerShell scripting and administrative automation.
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts and technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, and DNS.
  • Working knowledge of endpoint protection technologies, including EDR, antivirus, and vulnerability-management tools.
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership.
  • Ability to successfully complete a background check.
  • Must meet applicable U.S. person requirements for authorized access to Controlled Unclassified Information and other controlled information.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience administering Microsoft 365 GCC High or another government cloud environment.
  • Familiarity with NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, and DFARS requirements.
  • Experience with Python scripting.
  • Experience with SIEM or centralized log-management platforms, such as Wazuh or a comparable solution.
