Summary

This role helps keep APS’s critical technology systems running reliably and efficiently by building and supporting software used across the organization. As an IT Solutions Engineer / Analyst II, your work spans modern web applications, backend services, and enterprise databases—ensuring tools perform well from initial design through production support. By delivering stable, high‑quality solutions, this role directly supports APS’s ability to serve customers safely, reliably, and at scale, including the energy that powers homes, businesses, and communities across Arizona.

What Your Day Would Be Like:

  • Designing and developing software solutions that improve how teams across APS work and serve customers
  • Collaborating with IT partners and business stakeholders to translate needs into reliable, scalable applications
  • Supporting application performance and reliability by troubleshooting issues and improving system stability
  • Contributing across the full application lifecycle—from design and development through deployment and production support
  • Helping modernize and maintain enterprise systems that support critical operations at Palo Verde

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Experience delivering software solutions across the full application stack, including web interfaces, backend services, and databases
  • A solid understanding of application performance, reliability, and lifecycle support
  • A collaborative problem‑solver who works well with both technical and non‑technical partners

  • A professional who takes ownership and follows solutions through from development to production
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field
  • PLUS two (2) years of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience
  • OR (for positions in IT Digital Solutions Delivery) an advanced degree in Data Science, Data/Quantitative/Business Analytics or Economics, Mathematics or Engineering with a focus in Data Science is required
  • Requires basic technical subject matter knowledge within a job area or system

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications

  • Knowledge of programming languages; database management systems; development platforms:
  • Experience with full stack development, including modern web frameworks, server-side technologies, and RESTful services.
  • Proficiency withOracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases, including stored procedures, query optimization, and schema design.
  • Experience withframeworks commonly used for web application development.
  • Skills in understanding and explaining moderately technical issues and solutions in non-technical terms; working effectively in teams and across organizations; balancing and prioritizing between multiple work streams; collaborating with colleagues and teams in different fields across a diverse organization; solving moderate problems in own area of work

Nuclear Requirements

  • Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member.
  • Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage.
  • This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities.
  • These are a condition of employment at PVNGS.
Major Accountabilities
  • Supports the design, development, modification, and/or configuration support of applications and programs
  • Fixes applications to meet functional and technical designs following best practices and development standards and guidelines
  • Analyzes, debugs, and resolves defects in applications
  • Supports production systems, analyzes and resolves production problems in a timely manner; resolves end user service requests as assigned
  • Completes unit test application changes to ensure quality of work; tests new features, enhancements, and defect fixes
  • Assists with technical solutions in new implementations
  • Complete minor product enhancements and development of reports

HybridRole:

Employees in hybrid roles will work both in their home offices and alongside their colleagues at an APS facility or other work location for meaningful in person engagement.

As of January 2025, hybrid-role employees will be asked to work about 40% of their time in person at an APS or other (non-home office) location.

Any PVGS employee may be called upon for random Fitness For Duty Testing (FFD) during scheduled working hours. Employees must report to FFD at Palo Verde as soon as reasonably practicable, but no more than 120 minutes after being notified. Employees who are onsite when notified will have no more than 60 minutes to report after being notified.
