Summary
  • Participates in a variety of financial analysis, corporate finance and treasury projects or functions including cash position forecasting, liquidity management, evaluation and implementation of cash management products and services, accounting support for finance functions, management of banking relationships, covenant compliance, budget preparation, variance analysis, business operational metric reporting, net present values, cash flow analysis, forecasting, and operating expense and financial results reporting and analysis.
  • Gather and review data, update financial and business operations models and applications, analyze and report results.
  • Under limited supervision, manages the day-to-day transactions which may include cash management, cash forecasting, covenant compliance, and leasing; performs comprehensive analysis projects or functions which may include variance analysis, business operational metric reporting, net present values, cash flow analysis, forecasting, and financial results reporting and analysis, tracking and development of key financial metrics.
  • Undertakes financial and support projects for recommendations to Management on key strategies to support achieving financial results.
  • Update financial and business operations models and applications, analyze and report results.
  • Design and develop financial report packages.
  • Assists junior team members.
  • Degree in business, finance, accounting economics, mathematics or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Additionally, a minimum of five (5) years directly related experience in financial analysis, accounting, economic analysis or data analytics in any industry, OR minimum five (5) years business operations related experience in the utility or energy services industry.
  • In lieu of degree, an equivalent combination of formal education and experience totaling ten (10) years is required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of finance and economic analysis, corporate finance, utility regulation, utility operations.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong research, data management and effective management communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.) and database tools.
Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications
  • MBA or Masters degree preferred.
  • Strong experience with related analytical, financial, database, and/or business operations tools (i.e., Kyriba, Bloomberg, PeopleSoft, Cognos, PowerPlant, Hyperion, Maximo, supply chain and inventory systems).
  • Travel may be required.
Nuclear Requirement

Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member.

Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage.

This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities.

These are a condition of employment at PVNGS.

Major Accountabilities
  • Performs routine to advanced level corporate financial tasks such as cash forecasting, cash management, variance analysis and short and long-term financial, sales, and peak load forecasting.
  • Supports the monthly accounting close process including variance analysis, and preparation of variance explanations and communication to management for financial statement results.
  • Ensures financial events and transactions are reported to Accounting for proper financial statement recording and accounting treatment.
  • Collaborate with department staff in the evaluation of financial business scenarios.
  • Develop ad hoc models to support unique scenarios or limited scope analysis with the various work streams O&M, Capital, corporate finance, sales and revenue forecasting, tax planning, regulatory, and accounting.
  • Provide support in the formulation of model inputs and processing of data through financial models.
  • Ensures compliance by maintaining appropriate documentation, files, records or systems.
  • Undertakes the development of limited scope financial and operational decision support and business unit planning projects and initiatives.
  • Provide support in the development, compilation, presentation and communication of performance report packages for management monthly financial reporting package as well as scenario analysis results, including identification of significant findings and conclusions through the use of existing technology and strong understanding of business unit financial and regulatory and operations related data.
  • Provides training and support to business customers to ensure understanding of new or existing processes; may also provide training to team member within Finance & Accounting.
  • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of the primary emerging issues facing the industry and company business specifics.
  • Develops comprehensive understanding of company, unit policies and procedures, accounting practices, and federal and state regulations.
  • Identifies or partners in identifying continuous improvement opportunities within the organization and incorporate continuous improvement principles and practices into business unit partnerships.
  • Provides support to other team members to enhance development and to drive increasing productivity in team processes.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert within employees own team and mentors other junior team members.
  • Works on matters of significance, typically on to medium initiatives.
  • Collaborates with different teams in different business units.
  • Contacts are primarily with immediate supervisor and higher-level and mid to Sr. level business unit leadership.
  • Supports multiple, recurring requests on multiple issues/solutions.
  • Analyzes and resolves complex technical problems using experience, judgment and range of material/tools; may take a new perspective on existing solution.
  • Makes improvements of processes, systems or products to enhance performance and service delivery.
  • Makes decisions within area of direct responsibility.

Any PVGS employees may be called upon for random Fitness for Duty (FFD) testing during scheduled working hours. Employees, if off-site, must report to FFD at Palo Verde as soon as reasonably practicable, but no more than 120 minutes after being notified. Employees who are onsite when notified will have no more than 60 minutes to report after being notified.
