Job summary

The role supports faculty, residents, technicians, and clinical staff across the Campus and Children’s Hospital Colorado.

Responsibilities include desktop support, server management, disaster recovery, and data security with regular vendor coordination.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with 2+ years of professional IT experience.
  • Experience with Windows Server 2016+ and Linux RH/RHEL or similar.
  • Knowledge of backup/disaster recovery systems and storage arrays.
  • Experience with Active Directory/Intune and device management.
  • Healthcare/LIS/EHR/EMR systems experience in a university or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide desktop management support for clinical faculty and staff.

IT Senior Professional

Position #: 00852993 - Requisition #: 41020

This position works within the Department of Pathology Informatics Team to provide clinical desktop management support, maintain the stability of overall departmental network, computers, software, and related components with respect to clinical, technical, administrative clinical goals. Responsibilities of the position include clinical faculty and technical staff desktop support, user training, software and hardware upgrades and maintenance, disaster recovery, and data security. The position involves constant communication with faculty, residents, technicians, and clinical staff of the University of Colorado Denver campus and Children's Hospital Colorado.

Key Responsibilities
Hardware Configuration and Maintenance - 30%
  • Configure and deploy computers and hardware. In clinical areas, offices and other areas on campus.
  • Install new or update existing computer hardware on a variety of clinical/office systems.
  • Support networked and local printers, copiers and label printers.
  • Support cassette printers and slide stainer systems with appropriate vendor.
Server Management and Monitoring - 10%
  • Physical configuration and rack mount servers
  • Install operating system and required services
  • Verify servers are on and not in error status daily
  • Verify LIS services are running daily (Restart as needed)
  • Verify back-ups completed from previous day
  • Recover files and information from backups.
  • Work within the file server to create shares and apply user access.
  • Update and utilize Microsoft Deployment Toolkit for device images
Documentation and Accreditation - 20%
  • Maintain departmental policies and procedures documentation related to networking, computer management, troubleshooting, testing, data entry, and user processes.
  • Assist with maintaining documentation for accreditation and clinical regulatory requirements (CAP, CLIA, etc.)
  • Maintain up-to-date inventory of all hardware and software installations.
  • Work within project and strategic planning goals on all projects so that timeframes, costs, and resources can be tracked.
  • Perform quality control, validation, and testing for all clinical informatics activities.
  • Provide documentation of new user's orientation to network, applications, and security.
Help Desk and User Training - 10%
  • Orient users, while obtaining proper documentation, to all electronic resources, including but not limited to: computer resources, VPN access, and security protocols
  • Provide end-user training as assigned by supervisor.
  • Provide support for all users related to network issues, computer configuration, mobile devices, antivirus and security updates, and other related issues.
  • Apply users to security groups and verify shares are created/accessible.
Training and Other Duties -10%
  • Complete all required training courses.
  • Communication with vendors and other service providers as needed to complete tasks.
  • Update and modify department website.
  • Update and modify department distribution lists
  • Purchase request processing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Location

Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 4 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, management/computer information systems, computer engineering, information technology, or a directly related field from an accredited institution and 2 years of professional level IT experience.

A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with:

  • Windows Server 2016+ and RHEL or similar, physical and virtual machine.
  • Backup and disaster recovery systems, Storage arrays
  • Active directory/Intune experience with best practices knowledge.
  • Healthcare/Laboratory primary business application experience (EHR/EMR/LIS).
  • Experience working in a university or state environment.

Anticipated Pay Range

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as:

$58,051 to $77,788

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
