Job summary

LinuxCareers seeks a skilled security-focused systems administrator to manage Windows Server and Linux (RHEL) hardening, STIG validation, and VMware vSphere environments in a classified setting. You will implement automation with Ansible, maintain AD/DNS/DHCP, and support vulnerability remediation within strict timelines.

The role requires hands-on virtualization, patch management, and strong scripting (PowerShell/Bash/Python), plus eligibility for an active U.S. Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Experience administering and hardening Windows Server and Linux (RHEL) in classified environments.
• Hands-on VMware vSphere administration, including provisioning and patching.
• Ability to apply and validate STIGs using SCAP/SCC tools.
• Experience managing Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and enterprise patch management.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) and Ansible.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Administer Windows Server and Linux (RHEL) systems, maintaining approved hardened baselines and applying STIG compliance using SCAP, SCC, and manual validation.
• Manage virtual infrastructure including VMware vSphere provisioning, patching, and STIG compliance across all virtual components.
• Configure and maintain enterprise services including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, WSUS/patch repositories, and repository servers.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and Ansible playbooks to enforce configuration consistency and reduce manual effort.
• Support ISSO-led vulnerability scanning and remediation, providing technical implementation for CAT I/II/III findings within required timelines.
• Monitor system health, performance, and security posture; respond to alerts and anomalies proactively.
• Maintain backup and recovery procedures, build and transition environments to steady-state operations following ATO, and provide knowledge transfer.

• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, RHCSA, VCP, or equivalent
