Akkodis is seeking an IT Security Cloud Data Protection Engineer for a Direct Hire role in Cedar Rapids, IA. The candidate will design and implement enterprise-wide data protection controls, support data governance initiatives, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include configuring MPIP, DLP, and sensitivity labels across Microsoft 365, Azure, and on-premises environments, guiding security policy development, and participating in on-call incident response.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
• 8+ years of experience in Information Security, Cybersecurity, or Cloud Security.
• 4+ years configuring and managing Microsoft Purview (Data Classification, DLP, Insider Risk).
• 2+ years designing and supporting security controls within Microsoft 365 and Azure.

• Serve as SME for Microsoft Purview Information Protection and related Microsoft security technologies.
• Design, implement, and maintain data protection and classification solutions across Microsoft 365, Azure, and on-premises environments.
• Develop and enforce information protection policies, standards, and best practices across Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and Azure.
• Configure and manage data classification, sensitivity labels, and DLP policies aligned with enterprise governance requirements.
• Monitor, investigate, and respond to data security alerts, policy violations, and compliance issues using Purview dashboards and reporting tools.
• Collaborate with security analysts, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to strengthen cloud security posture.
• Evaluate emerging threats and recommend security enhancements to protect data.
• Provide guidance and training on cloud security, information lifecycle management, and data governance.
• Participate in on-call support rotation and assist with IT Security incidents.

Akkodis is seeking an IT Security Cloud Data Protection Engineer for a Direct Hire opportunity with a client in Cedar Rapids, IA. We are seeking candidates with hands‑on expertise in Microsoft Purview Information Protection (MPIP), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and Microsoft 365/Azure security administration. This role will be responsible for designing and implementing enterprise-wide data protection controls, supporting data governance initiatives, and ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory standards.

Range: $95,000 to $120,000 annually; salary may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Location: Prefer Cedar Falls/Waterloo area but open to Des Moines, Omaha, and Minneapolis MN.

Responsibilities Include:

• Serve as the subject matter expert for Microsoft Purview Information Protection (MPIP) and related Microsoft security technologies.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
• 8+ years of experience in Information Security, Cybersecurity, or Cloud Security.
• 4+ years of hands‑on experience configuring and managing Microsoft Purview, including Data Classification, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and Insider Risk Management.
• 2+ years of experience designing and supporting security controls within Microsoft 365 and Azure environments.
• Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks including NIST CSF 2.0, CIS Controls, and ISO 27001.
• Familiarity with financial industry regulatory requirements such as NCUA, FFIEC, GLBA, PCI‑DSS, and HIPAA.
• Experience supporting incident response, threat investigations, and case management in cloud environments.
• Microsoft certifications such as Microsoft 365 Security Administrator, Azure Security Engineer, or equivalent are highly preferred.
• Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
