Job description

About Lumafield:

Lumafield was founded in 2019 to upgrade manufacturing.

We are engineers with deep experience across the product development cycle, from initial ideas to shipping hardware, across industries and specializations, who became frustrated by the cost and complexity of modern manufacturing. So we decided to upgrade it.

Engineers make million-dollar decisions every day, and they need tools that give them the greatest possible insight into their products. By offering unprecedented visibility into products, as well as AI-driven tools that highlight problems and generate quantitative data, Lumafield promises to revolutionize the way complex products are created, manufactured, and used across industries. We started with industrial CT scanning, which for us was the most valuable but underutilized tool in the manufacturing toolbox, enabling us to rapidly inspect essential components non-destructively.

We rebuilt the whole system, from X-ray capture, to computer vision analysis, to web-based collaboration, to the entire business model, making the most advanced manufacturing tech more accessible to every industry. Our company, like our platform, is designed for upgrades. We’re building for greater intelligence, autonomy, and speed. For deeper vision, operational excellence, and powerful insights. And then we'll upgrade it all again.

Lumafield is headquartered in Cambridge, MA, and has an office in San Francisco, CA.

About the role:

We are looking for an experienced IT & Security Administrator to support Lumafield's day-to-day IT operations while helping strengthen our security and compliance programs. Reporting to the Head of Operations, you'll help ensure our employees have reliable, secure technology that enables them to do their best work. You'll maintain our endpoint and identity infrastructure, partner closely with Engineering and Security to strengthen our security posture, and help scale our IT operations as the company grows.

This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, streamlining processes, and making technology work better for everyone. You'll balance day‑to‑day IT support with longer‑term improvements, helping automate manual work, strengthen security and compliance, and build scalable systems that grow with the business.

What you'll do:
  • Provide day‑to‑day IT support for employees across all Lumafield offices, troubleshooting hardware, software, networking, and workplace technology issues for both technical and non‑technical users.
  • Manage the complete lifecycle of company devices, including procurement, provisioning, MDM enrollment, software deployment, inventory management, lifecycle replacement, and secure retirement.
  • Administer core IT and business systems including Google Workspace, Rippling, MDM platforms, and other SaaS applications.
  • Manage user identities, access requests, permissions, and lifecycle processes to ensure employees have secure, appropriate access to the tools they need.
  • Help maintain endpoint security, patch management, and security tooling, including platforms such as SentinelOne and Vanta.
  • Support compliance initiatives across frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, and ITAR by implementing technical controls, maintaining documentation, and collecting audit evidence.
  • Work across the full lifecycle of an enterprise server rack, from network management and switch configuration to building and deploying physical servers
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot AV and conference room tech, including Neat devices and other presentation equipment.
  • Continuously improve IT systems and processes by identifying opportunities to automate manual work, improve reliability, and enhance the employee experience.
About you:
  • 3+ years of experience in IT systems administration, endpoint management, or IT support
  • Experience supporting macOS, Windows, and Linux environments.
  • Experience administering enterprise SaaS platforms and endpoint management solutions.
  • Working knowledge of identity and access management, including SSO, MFA, and user lifecycle management.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware, operating systems, networking (firewalls, routers, switches, wireless APs), authentication, and SaaS applications.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a proactive, continuous-improvement mindset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support both technical and non-technical employees.
Bonus:
  • Experience with MDM platforms such as Kandji, Jamf, Iru, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with Rippling, Vanta, SentinelOne, or similar IT and security platforms.
  • Experience with Docker, GitHub, OPNsense, UniFi, or Tailscale
  • Experience supporting Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Neat, and other workplace collaboration tools.
  • Experience supporting security or compliance programs such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, ITAR, or CMMC.
  • Familiarity with AWS or other cloud infrastructure.
  • A portfolio, blog, GitHub repo, or other work samples we can review
