IT Project Manager Sr

Job Summary

At Getty Digital, we're re-imagining how we can use data, software, and systems to provide a deeply linked and consistent experience for staff, scholars, researchers, and enthusiasts as they explore the rich and complex information held across the organization. This position manages large and complex technical projects to advance Getty's work. This is a three-year limited term position.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced professional to join the Portfolio Project Management Office (PPMO) team within Getty Digital for a limited term of three years. Reporting to the PPMO Manager, the role involves working closely with the Collections Platform Director and staff from across the organization, including directors, product managers, engineers, and subject-matter experts to implement innovative solutions addressing user and business needs.

The incumbent will oversee projects from conception to final implementation, focusing on Getty's Digital Preservation Initiative and Getty Vocabularies Replacement, both vital to the arts and cultural heritage community worldwide.

This position offers a hybrid work environment; candidates must reside in California, within a commutable distance of Getty, and work on campus at least one day per week.

Major Job Responsibilities
  • Perform full project management duties: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing projects.
  • Manage projects requiring high levels of functional integration with minimal supervision.
  • Handle multiple projects with complex interdependencies.
  • Coordinate and report on technical work across teams and organizations.
  • Collaborate with other project managers, engineers, system administrators, and subject-matter experts.
  • Facilitate discussions and negotiations to reach consensus.
  • Implement management and communication plans.
  • Maintain project documentation, schedules, budgets, and status reports.
  • Monitor expenses and ensure budget adherence.
  • Develop change management strategies and communication plans.
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Address issues during projects, applying problem-solving and escalation procedures.
  • Prepare post-project reports and lessons learned.
  • Present project updates to internal and external audiences.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in software analysis, development, and implementation.
  • 2-5 years managing complex technical projects within the cultural heritage domain.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification is highly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of archival, collection, or digital asset management systems.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience managing contracts and vendor relationships.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Workfront, Jira).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and organizational abilities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
