Overview

Sr. IT Project Manager (SCADA/DERMS) role with a Power and Utilities Client. This position is designated as hybrid with candidates working in San Antonio, Texas. Job number: 2079556.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee multiple projects as a project manager, discipline lead, and/or field construction coordinator for power plant projects developed to maintain or improve safety, environmental quality, reliability, infrastructure modernization, and efficiency.
  • Assemble project teams, assign responsibilities, identify required resources, and develop schedules to ensure timely completion of assigned projects.
  • Develop detailed project plans with clear scopes, team responsibilities, milestone dates, and procurement strategy for all assigned projects.
  • Steward projects to meet objectives regarding safety, schedule, budget, scope, code and environmental compliance, and quality using metrics and benchmarking.
  • Develop procurement and technical specifications for vendor and contractor services; coordinate with procurement for external materials and services, including purchase orders and contracts.
  • Negotiate with vendors/contractors on changes and ensure contract commitments are completed per the scope of work and technical specs.
  • Plan and monitor design and construction activities for contract and industry code compliance, QA/QC, schedule performance, and quality workmanship across multiple craft disciplines.
  • Review and approve design documents and drawings for compliance with contract terms, company standards, and industry codes.
  • Coordinate development of conceptual and detailed designs; communicate issues and recommend strategies to management.
  • Interface with senior management to gain approvals and manage risk in line with governance.
  • Develop, review, and approve startup and testing procedures for check-out, startup, and commissioning.
  • Train power plant operating and maintenance personnel on newly installed systems.
  • Coordinate construction management team activities with field operations for quality assurance; perform check-out and start-up, and assign tasks to technical leads.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise to support Power Generation Operations and Maintenance personnel.
  • Perform analysis of project data and generate reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science or related field from an accredited university, or equivalent technical/craft work experience in power generation.
  • Accountable for the execution of projects to support corporate and business unit strategy.
  • Technical expert on project management methodologies, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to oversee major engineering projects, programs, or initiatives with minimal supervision.
  • Experience leading planning, design, and construction of multiple high-risk, large, multi-disciplinary, capital and O&M projects (typically $5M+).
  • Proven ability to train other Project Managers on PM-process issues related to initiation, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing of projects.
  • Strong communication with interdepartmental stakeholders and senior management; capable of presenting business cases and project status.
  • Project Management Professional certification (PMP) preferred.
