Job summary

Emory University is seeking a seasoned IT Project Manager in Georgia to coordinate, plan, and execute enterprise-wide IT projects. You will shape governance, budgets, and scopes while leading cross-functional teams, vendors, and leadership to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Computer Science, or related field.
  • PMP and/or ITIL certification preferred.
  • Six (6) to eight (8) years of experience utilizing formal project management methodologies, techniques, tools, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent, large-scale, and/or highly complex projects within a matrixed environment.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing, maintaining, and managing project management deliverables, including: Project Charters, Project Plans, Status Reports, Project Estimates, Communication Plans, Risk Management Plans, Budgets, Project Schedules, Milestone and Deliverable Tracking Reports.
  • Demonstrated experience managing project scope, issues, risks, quality, budget, and timelines while delivering projects successfully and meeting business objectives.
  • Proficiency with project management software and tools, including Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading cross-functional teams, building collaborative partnerships, and motivating project teams to achieve project goals and deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, plan, support, and execute enterprise-wide information technology projects.
  • Provide strategic input into project planning, budgeting, scope development, governance, and resource management.
  • Manage the full Project Management Life Cycle from initiation through closure.
  • Establish project structure among multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, vendors, and leadership.
  • Develop charters, business cases, project plans, communication strategies, risk mitigation plans, status reports, and governance documentation.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement and drive consensus regarding objectives, requirements, deliverables, timelines, and success criteria.
  • Lead complex enterprise initiatives involving multiple departments, technical teams, vendors, and external partners.
  • Monitor performance, track milestones, manage scope changes, and ensure deliverables are achieved.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation/contingency plans.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including bid evaluations, contract discussions, SOW reviews, payments.
  • Create and maintain schedules, budgets, dashboards, and project documentation.
  • Facilitate governance meetings and communicate progress to sponsors and leadership.
  • Support PMO initiatives, process improvements, and training.

Job Description

Coordinates, plans, supports, and executes enterprise-wide information technology projects. Provides strategic input into project planning, budgeting, scope development, governance, and resource management. Manages the full Project Management Life Cycle from project initiation through closure while ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and stakeholder expectations.

Establishes project structure and cohesion among multidisciplinary teams, business stakeholders, technical teams, vendors, and executive leadership. Applies industry-standard project management methodologies and best practices to deliver projects within scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations.

Develops project charters, business cases, project plans, communication strategies, risk mitigation plans, status reports, and governance documentation. Facilitates stakeholder engagement and drives consensus regarding project objectives, requirements, deliverables, timelines, and success criteria.

Provides leadership for complex enterprise initiatives involving multiple departments, technical teams, operational leaders, vendors, and external partners. Coordinates project activities, monitors performance, tracks milestones, manages scope changes, and ensures project deliverables are successfully achieved.

Conducts project assessments to identify risks, dependencies, issues, and opportunities. Develops mitigation strategies and contingency plans while proactively addressing obstacles that may impact project success.

Manages project vendors and supplier relationships, including participation in bid evaluations, contract discussions, statement of work reviews, vendor performance monitoring, and supplier payment coordination.

Creates and maintains project schedules, resource plans, budgets, status reports, dashboards, and project documentation. Utilizes project management tools and methodologies to monitor project progress, ensure resource commitments are met, and identify project variances.

Facilitates meetings, governance committees, steering committees, and stakeholder discussions. Communicates effectively with project sponsors, senior leadership, technical teams, and business stakeholders regarding project progress, risks, issues, scope modifications, and project outcomes.

Assists with Project Management Office (PMO) initiatives by contributing to process improvement efforts, project management standards, best practices, training activities, and organizational project management maturity.

Supports project teams by providing coaching, guidance, and performance feedback regarding project responsibilities, deliverables, and project management methodologies. Promotes team collaboration, accountability, and successful project execution.

Manages project closure activities, validates deliverables, documents lessons learned, obtains appropriate approvals and signoffs, and ensures successful project transition and sustainability.

Performs related responsibilities as required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification preferred.
  • Six (6) to eight (8) years of experience utilizing formal project management methodologies, techniques, tools, and best practices required.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent, large-scale, and/or highly complex projects within a matrixed environment.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
