Job summary

Base pay range

$60.00/hr - $70.00/hr

Employment Type: W2 Contract (6 months with potential for a 12-month extension)

Pay Range: $60–$70/hour W2

Capstone IT is partnering with a nationally recognized insurance and risk management provider to hire a Project Manager II for a 6-month contract opportunity.

This position leads complex, high-visibility technology initiatives supporting internal employee-facing applications within the People Solutions team, specifically the Associate Hub. You will guide regional and global software development projects through the full lifecycle including planning, design, development, testing, and implementation. Success in this role requires strong project leadership, technical depth, and the ability to deliver clear, concise communication to executive stakeholders. You will play a key part in driving digital solutions that improve employee experience and operational efficiency across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead regional and global technology projects using Waterfall, Agile, or hybrid methodologies throughout the full development lifecycle.
• Define project objectives, scope, and deliverables in collaboration with leadership, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
• Participate in regional and global project prioritization and portfolio activities.
• Build, manage, and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, and execution roadmaps.
• Manage team member capacity, resource allocation, and cross-regional coordination.
• Provide oversight of third-party vendors and ensure alignment with project goals.
• Oversee and track project budgets, invoices, and approvals where applicable.
• Identify risks, manage mitigation strategies, and resolve project issues efficiently.
• Maintain project documentation to meet PMO and organizational standards.
• Present clear, concise project updates to senior and executive leadership, including digital leadership teams.
• Support business requirement development for complex functions as needed.
• Deliver day-to-day operational leadership across all phases of project execution.
• Apply established project methodologies and enforce compliance with standards.
• Mentor junior project managers and contribute to team development.
• Provide exceptional customer service and represent Capstone IT with professionalism.
• Support occasional off-shift work and travel for project needs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional project management experience; software development-focused experience required.
• Proven experience presenting to executive audiences and creating leadership-level slide decks.
• Experience supporting internal business applications, systems engineering, and back-end or database-driven solutions.
• Strong analytical abilities and experience producing project documentation.
• Experience planning and coordinating functional testing.
• Ability to learn and apply new technical tools, processes, and systems.
• Solid understanding of application programming concepts, database structures, and system design.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to translate technical topics for non-technical audiences.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; experience working with global teams.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.
• Experience in the insurance or brokerage industry is a plus.
• Must be able to work on-site in Kansas City Tuesday–Thursday.
