Job summary

Casey’s Product Manager will own a multi-domain product portfolio including merchandising, inventory planning, and distribution technology, leading the product team to deliver against strategic roadmaps. You will translate Casey's high-level vision into consolidated roadmaps and actionable tasks in collaboration with engineering.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience is required.
  • Seven (7) years of relevant industry technology and product management experience.
  • Experience with agile scrum development and collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet).
  • Portfolio-level product judgment across multiple functional areas with strategic roadmapping.

Job Description

Casey’s supply chain delivers approximately 3,500 products through 3 distribution centers to a network of nearly 2,900 stores across a growing multi-state footprint, providing end-to-end procurement, inventory, distribution, transportation, and replenishment capabilities.

The Product Manager owns a multi-domain product portfolio including merchandising, inventory planning/management, and distribution technology and leads the product team delivering against it. This role has responsibility for setting product strategy, prioritizing features, building consensus, and coordinating product schedules in collaboration with engineering. The Product Manager is a strategist who will translate the company's high-level vision and goals into consolidated roadmaps and actionable tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Product Owners. Responsible for hiring, training, performance management, and corrective actions for direct reports. Collaborate on career development and goal setting. You're the person they call when they're stuck and the person who gives them room when they're not.
  • Partner closely with business leadership. Work closely with Merchandising, Inventory Planning, Distribution, Transportation, Store Operations, and Finance to understand the company and function’s high-level vision and goals. Serve as a proactive technology consultant, business partner, and liaison to IT. Develop trusted relationships with business leadership across the enterprise. Leverage relationships and navigate the organization to drive buy-in across competing priorities.
  • Own the Merchandising and Supply Chain product strategy and roadmap. Lead the technology product lifecycle, from prototyping and testing new experiences through scaling successful solutions and sunsetting legacy tools. Plan in annual, quarterly, and sprint cycles to translate roadmap priorities into delivered business outcomes.

Analyze various market offerings and collaborate with leadership to choose the best products to pursue. Drive buy-build-partner analysis, and where necessary, review potential partner relationships. Proactively champion AI, automation opportunities, and improvements across our products and processes.
  • Drive discovery and outcome measurement. Frame problems before solutions. Do research, prototyping and run experiments that de-risk the biggest bets before Engineering commits capacity. Define success in outcomes and hold the team to them post-launch.
  • Manage intake and prioritization. Collaborate with business teams and engineering to drive a consistent, defensible process across the organization ensuring alignment across teams so the team ships what matters and can explain what didn’t make the cut. Proven track record of using data to prioritize and drive decision‑making.

Compensation:

Starting pay range:$115,200-$160,400. Actual pay may vary based on Casey’s assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, and qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include local prevailing wages and internal equity. This position is eligible for an annual cash bonus based on company performance and an annual equity grant in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Our full salary range for this role does extend beyond the hiring range listed, allowing team members the opportunity to continue to grow within the company.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Business, Management Information Systems, Supply Chain Management, etc.) or equivalent experience is required. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Seven (7) years of relevant industry technologyand product management experience (retail, supply chain, logistics, etc.).
  • Experience with best‑practice agile scrum development. Subject matter expert, a strong plus.
  • Experience with collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet’s); experience with product management tools (e.g., Aha, ProductPlan, Jira Product Discovery).
  • Portfolio‑level product judgment. You’ve led product across multiple functional areas, and you know how to make tradeoffs when a single team’s roadmap must serve three different functional needs. You can hold a three‑year vision and a two‑week sprint in your head at the same time.
  • People leadership. You’ve managed Product Owners, PMs, or product analysts before, and the ones who worked for you would work for you again. You know the difference between coaching and doing‑the‑work‑for‑them.
  • Product sense. You have an instinct for what makes a product experience work, not just functionally, but intuitively. You can walk a warehouse, sit with a merchant, or watch someone struggle with a screen and immediately see what matters.
  • Business and stakeholder fluency. You can partner with executives from all areas of the business and collaboratively build a business case with finance leaders. Comfortable saying “no” and comfortable explaining why. You can write a one-pager an executive will actually read.
  • Technical fluency. You don't need to write code, but you've worked closely enough with engineers on real platforms (both packaged ERP systems and homegrown applications) so that you understand how the pieces fit and where the risk lives.
  • Analytical rigor. You use qualitative and quantitative data to prioritize and to settle debates. Excellent analytical and synthesis skills, with the ability to absorb and process large amounts of data into actionable information.
  • The Casey's fit. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including presentation skills. Ability to build relationships and effectively partner with all levels of employees and third parties. Highly organized and detail oriented. Passionate about the needs of the guest. Highly team‑oriented. Good at both planning and tactical execution. Driven leader that can inspire an agile team toward excellence, while practicing humility. Collaborative and open to new ideas.

This roledoes notallow for 100% remote work. Qualified candidates must live within a daily commutable distance of Casey's Store Support Center in Ankeny, IA and be willing to work onsite 5 days per week.
