How You Make a Difference
The Director of IT Platform Services oversees the stability, performance, and support of enterprise application platforms and the infrastructure that supports them. This role provides leadership and hands‑on technical oversight across DevOps, Database Administration, and Monitoring teams, with a strong focus on on‑premises and hybrid environments. The position serves as a senior escalation point for complex platform and application issues, leading deep technical troubleshooting to restore services and resolve root causes. This role works closely with development, infrastructure, security, and clinical partners to ensure platforms are reliable, observable, and resilient in a regulated healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute platform services strategies that support reliable, scalable, and resilient enterprise application environments.
- Serve as the senior technical escalation point for platform and application incidents, providing hands‑on leadership during high‑severity events and driving root cause analysis.
- Lead and oversee DevOps, database administration, and monitoring practices, including CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, observability, and operational readiness.
- Partner with development, infrastructure, security, and business stakeholders to align platform services with enterprise standards, compliance, and operational priorities.
- Balance strategic platform planning with day‑to‑day operational support in a 24/7 production environment, including documentation, runbooks, and on‑call models.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
Experience
- 8+ years of progressive experience in IT operations, platform services, or application support roles.
- 3+ years of experience leading technical teams.
- Strong hands‑on experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and release management.
- Experience supporting primarily on‑premises application platforms with hybrid cloud integration.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure administration in support of hybrid environments.
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) administration is a plus.
- Advanced experience supporting Windows Server environments; basic to intermediate Linux server administration knowledge.
- Experience administering and troubleshooting SQL Server environments, including performance tuning and availability.
- Experience with Redis or similar caching/data acceleration platforms.
- Experience supporting microservices‑based application architectures.
- Experience implementing and maintaining monitoring and observability platforms, including infrastructure monitoring, application performance monitoring, and code‑level instrumentation.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex application, database, and infrastructure issues under operational pressure.
- Experience supporting healthcare or other highly regulated environments preferred.
