Job summary

Alpaca is seeking an experienced IT Operations Specialist to support our distributed team with IT tasks and help ensure the security of our organization.

The IT team is 100% distributed and remote. This role reports to the IT Support Lead and serves as the go-to IT helpdesk resource while coordinating onboarding/offboarding with HR and Security.

Qualifications

3+ years of IT support or helpdesk experience.
Linux, MacOS and Windows administration incl. device management and patching.
Automation workflows, SSO configurations, scalable onboarding.
Scripting with a focus on automation.
Experience managing enterprise SaaS platforms.
Cloud-centric environments and cybersecurity capabilities.
Experience with on-prem LAN/WAN environments.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent English communication, collaborative work style.
Ability to cover Mountain or Pacific time zones.
Available for on-call rotations and after-hours as needed.
Proactive self-starter with continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

Be the go-to IT helpdesk resource for staff.
Diagnose and provide IT support as required.
Collaborate with HR and Security on onboarding/offboarding.
Set up and deploy laptops, devices, software and hardware.
Assist with shipping/receiving of hardware assets.
Manage MDM systems and BYOD.
Maintain IT assets inventory.
Secure endpoints as directed by Security.
Provide IT training to staff.
Assist with change management and procurement.
Other related duties as required.

Your Role:

We are seeking an experienced IT Operations Specialist to help support our team members with IT-related tasks and help ensure the Security of our organization.

The IT Team is 100% distributed and remote. This role will report directly to the IT Support Lead.

Things You Get To Do:

Be the “Go-to-Person- for IT helpdesk requests
Diagnose and provide IT support for staff as required
Work with the HR and Security team to manage onboarding and offboarding activities
Set up and deploy laptops, devices, software, and other hardware
Assist with shipping and receiving of hardware assets
Manage MDM systems, including BYOD
Maintain the firm's inventory of all IT assets
Manage and secure endpoint devices at the direction of the Security Team
Provide training to staff on IT-related topics
Assist with change management and procurement activities
Other related duties as required

Who You Are (Must-Haves):

Excited about Alpaca’s mission and what we’re building
3+ years of experience in an IT support or helpdesk role
Deep expertise in Linux, MacOS, and Windows system administration, including device management, patching, and operational support
Experience with automation workflows, SSO configurations, and scalable onboarding processes
Good scripting skills with a drive for automation.
Proven experience managing enterprise SaaS platforms.
Experience with cloud-centric environments and cybersecurity capabilities
Experience with traditional on-prem LAN/WAN environments
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills, fluent in English (both written and verbal), and committed to working collaboratively across the Firm
Ability to cover Mountain time or Pacific time zones
Available for on-call rotations and after-hour responses as needed
Proactive self-starter and self-motivator with a focus on continuous improvement

Who You Might Be (Nice-to-Haves):

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field
IT or Security-related certifications
Understanding of financial and privacy regulations
Experience in the financial services industry
Business acumen to be able to balance tradeoffs between stakeholders, technology feasibility, and budget constraints
