North Valley Bank is seeking a qualified professional to join our team as an IT Manager. This position will be based on site at our Main Office located in Zanesville, Ohio.
Our Mission: Building Better Communities
“We will build better communities by helping our neighborhoods and small businesses grow and prosper through the delivery of quality financial services.”
Summary of this Position:
The IT Manager is a working manager responsible for both daily IT operations and direct technical execution across North Valley Bank. This position supervises IT operations staff while personally administering systems, troubleshooting difficult problems, implementing changes, and completing technical project work. Hands-on technical work is a core and continuing responsibility. The IT Manager is expected to investigate problems directly, work in administrative consoles, review logs and configurations, resolve tickets, and travel onsite when needed. Delegating work or opening a vendor ticket does not end the manager’s responsibility for achieving and verifying a resolution.
Reporting to the Director of IT, Facilities & Security, the IT Manager coordinates daily priorities, staff coverage, maintenance, vendor activity, and assigned projects. The role translates approved plans into completed work and keeps the Director informed of significant risks, decisions, and resource needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
Hands-On Technical Leadership
- Personally diagnose and resolve complex server, network, endpoint, identity, application, and connectivity issues.
- Administer and maintain assigned production systems, including Windows Server, virtualized infrastructure, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and network services.
- Work directly in technical systems to investigate alerts, review logs, validate configurations, and implement approved corrective actions.
- Perform routine support and maintenance when workload, urgency, or staff availability requires it.
- Take ownership of difficult or stalled issues and remain actively involved through service restoration and verification.
- Maintain sufficient technical knowledge and authorized access to provide effective coverage for both direct reports.
Daily Operations and Staff Management
- Assign priorities, coordinate schedules, and ensure support coverage throughout established service hours.
- Review ticket queues, recurring issues, maintenance obligations, and overdue work.
- Set clear expectations and verify the quality and completion of assigned tasks.
- Coach, train, and evaluate IT operations staff.
- Maintain cross-training and backup assignments for essential duties.
- Balance user support, maintenance, and project work according to business impact and risk.
- Address operational problems proactively and elevate matters requiring Director-level decisions.
Infrastructure and Onsite Support
- Maintain the reliability and performance of servers, storage, networks, endpoints, and assigned banking technology systems.
- Plan and perform approved upgrades, configuration changes, migrations, and equipment replacements.
- Troubleshoot switches, firewalls, SD-WAN, wireless networks, and branch connectivity.
- Travel to Bank offices and personally assist with cabling diagnosis, equipment replacement, and service restoration when needed.
- Coordinate specialized work with telecommunications, cabling, application, and infrastructure providers.
- Maintain current inventories, system dependencies, network diagrams, and lifecycle recommendations.
Security and Access Operations
- Oversee and directly support patching, vulnerability remediation, MFA, endpoint protection, encryption, and assigned security tools.
- Verify monitoring coverage and investigate missing agents, failed controls, and unresolved alerts.
- Coordinate technical incident response with the Director and security providers.
- Perform authorized containment, investigation, and recovery actions.
- Oversee approved account provisioning, access changes, offboarding, and technical access reviews.
- Maintain evidence of assigned controls and ensure corrective actions are completed and documented.
- Escalate significant security concerns and exceptions; do not independently accept risks outside delegated authority.
Backup, Recovery, and Continuity
- Verify that assigned systems are protected by appropriate backup and recovery arrangements.
- Investigate backup or replication failures and personally assist with complex recovery issues.
- Plan and execute restoration and disaster recovery tests with staff and providers.
- Maintain usable recovery procedures and validate results against approved recovery objectives.
- Address identified recovery deficiencies and maintain coverage for essential technical responsibilities.
Project Delivery and Vendor Coordination
- Convert approved initiatives into implementation plans with owners, milestones, testing, and rollback procedures.
- Perform technical implementation work alongside staff and vendors.
- Coordinate dependencies, maintenance windows, user communication, and post-change verification.
- Hold providers accountable for assigned deliverables and follow unresolved issues through completion.
- Obtain and document knowledge transfer so the Bank can support systems after implementation.
- Provide technical recommendations and cost information to support the Director’s purchasing and planning decisions.
Documentation and Accountability
- Maintain accurate procedures, configurations, diagrams, vendor contacts, and change records in approved Bank systems.
- Ensure work can be supported by another authorized associates or provider.
- Report service issues, project progress, unresolved risks, and resource constraints to the Director.
- Improve recurring processes through practical automation, documentation, and training.
- Verify results before considering tickets, changes, or remediation activities complete.
