Job summary

Ameritas is offering a 12+ month IT architecture internship in the United States (Lincoln, NE or Cincinnati, OH) with hybrid in-office and remote work. You will gather requirements, document findings, plan and execute proofs of concepts, and assist architects in project designs and artifacts.

You will also develop code solutions bridging data integration and security domains, contribute to the architecture taxonomy, and write automation scripts.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a college degree program at least half-time in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Able to commit to 12 months, with part-time hours during the academic year and full-time during the summer.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, with good communication.
• Curiosity and willingness to take on new challenges and tasks.
• Self-motivated with enthusiasm for impact.

Responsibilities

Job description

Position Description:

This position is an opportunity to gain exposure to the Ameritas IT environment and architecture analysis process. Gain insight into how architecture analysis evolves into technological initiatives.

Position Start Date:

This internship will begin in January 2027 or May 2027 depending on availability. This is not a summer only internship. This is a long term (12+ months) internship.

Position Location:

This is a hybrid role in Lincoln, NE or Cincinnati, OH working partially in-office and partially from home.

What you do:

• Gather requirements through interviews and/or research.
• Document findings and present results to the stakeholders.
• Plan and execute proof of concepts to prove out technology use cases.
• Work with managers and architects to provide insight into project-related designs.
• Support in the creation of architecture or transition artifacts and visualizations for use internally with project sponsors.
• Design and develop code solutions that bridge multiple technology domains including data integration pipelines and security frameworks.
• Support in creation of Ameritas technology framework taxonomy which will aid the company to organize IT assets, analyze their value, and align technology investments with business goals.
• Maintain and expand architecture knowledge base through collaboration with stakeholders.
• Write scripts for automation purposes and perform data query analysis.
• Special projects may include elements of web development, robotic process automation (RPA), AI, data and/or low code.

What you bring:

• Must be enrolled in a college degree program at least half-time as defined by your institution studying Information Systems, Computer Science or a similar related field.
• Must be able to commit to a 12-month internship working part-time during the academic school year and full-time during the summer
• Part-time hours:15-20 hours per week
• Full-time hours:30-40 hours a week
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills required.
• Ability to work independently and within a team to build relationships and interact effectively is required.
• Naturally curious demeanor with the ability to ask insightful questions required.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills required.
• Positive, self-motivated individual with enthusiasm and willingness to take on new challenges, responsibilities, and assignments desired.
• Self-starter with a drive to make an impact desired.
