WEP Clinical, based in Morrisville, NC, invites an IT Intern – Data, Automation & Solutions to gain hands-on experience designing data-driven solutions. You will work with SQL, Python, and dashboards to support analytics and automation initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Analytics, Engineering or related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Interest in data, automation, and emerging technologies including AI.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and translate business and technical requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Develop and optimize SQL queries and support relational database design for analytics.
  • Build Python-based scripts and automations to streamline workflows.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and drive process improvements; present insights via dashboards (Tableau).
  • Support system enhancements, integrations and AI-enabled tooling under senior guidance.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation, including process maps and technical notes.
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to continuous improvement.

Role Objectives:

The IT Intern – Data, Automation & Solutions will support the Information Technology function by partnering with cross‑functional departments to understand business needs and help design innovative, technology‑driven solutions. This role provides hands‑on experience in database design, data analysis, automation, and system optimization, contributing to improved efficiency, data accessibility, and informed decision‑making across the organization.

What You’ll Do:

  • Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders to gather and translate business and technical requirements into scalable data solutions.
Develop and optimize SQL queries and support relational database design to enable efficient data analysis and reporting.
Build Python‑based scripts and automations to streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency.
Analyze data to identify trends and drive process improvements, presenting insights through dashboards (e.g., Tableau) for diverse audiences.

Support system enhancements and integration efforts, including testing and implementing new tools and AI‑driven solutions.

  • Assist with evaluating, testing, and implementing AI‑enabled tools or solutions to enhance system efficiency and usability.
  • Support system integrations, enhancements, and optimization efforts under the guidance of senior IT or data team members.
  • Prepare andmaintaindocumentation, including process maps, technical notes, and user guidance.
  • Participate in project meetings, provide status updates, and contribute ideas to continuous improvement initiatives.

What You’ll Need:

  • Currentlypursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Analytics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Demonstrated interest in data, automation, and emerging technologies, including AI.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • High levelof organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods as part of normal day‑to‑day activities, with reasonable accommodations considered where appropriate
