We also work closely with partner VARs to learn about the latest technology changes, so we can make informed purchase decisions.

The Technology & Systems department participates in designing each of our new data center building’s networking infrastructure, including but not limited to diverse pathways connecting to carriers, meet‑me room hosting (rack, cabs, ladders, cross‑connect panels...), wireless AP coverage, etc. We rely on extreme collaboration with Sales, Construction, Operations, and Corporate Functions to drive simplification and establish global standards with continuous improvement and speed to value. We are working to build a reliable, scalable, sustainable, and secure technology roadmap/landscape that enables us to serve our customers and employees better and be the partner of choice. Our focus is on speed to value with financial and execution discipline.

Position Overview

This role will be based onsite in Port Washington, WI. The IT Infrastructure Engineer is a hands‑on infrastructure professional responsible for supporting the deployment, implementation, operational readiness, and ongoing support of IT infrastructure at Vantage Data Centers’ Lighthouse campus in Port Washington, Wisconsin. Working closely with Construction, Operations, Engineering, Security, and Technology & Systems teams, this role helps ensure IT infrastructure, networking, telecommunications, security systems, and building management systems are procured, delivered, installed, tested, documented, and ready to support commissioning and turnover activities. This position serves as a key on‑site representative for Vantage, coordinating vendors, managing inventory, supporting RFIs, tracking project deliverables, conducting quality assurance reviews, assisting with technical deployments, and maintaining alignment between multiple stakeholders. The ideal candidate combines foundational infrastructure knowledge with strong organizational, communication, customer service, and project coordination skills. The role operates within established standards, deployment processes, and service management frameworks to support the successful delivery and long‑term operation of one of Vantage's largest North American campuses.

Essential Job Functions

Manage IT infrastructure inventory, asset tracking, receiving, staging, deployment status, and lifecycle documentation in accordance with Vantage standards. Support procurement activities by coordinating equipment ordering, receiving, inventory reconciliation, deployment scheduling, and vendor engagement. Assist with the installation, configuration, testing, validation, and turnover of network, server, telecommunications, wireless, and related IT infrastructure. Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews to ensure deployments align with documented standards, requirements, and operational readiness criteria. Work under limited supervision, both independently and within a team environment. Manage multiple one‑time and/or ongoing projects. Respond to safety and emergency situations and maintain a safe and secure work environment. Frequent contact with employees at all levels of the organization; frequent external contact with vendors.

Duties

Coordinate infrastructure deployment activities from procurement through installation, testing, commissioning support, and operational handoff. Maintain inventory records, deployment tracking, asset databases, and equipment documentation. Support vendor management activities including scheduling, coordination, deliverable tracking, issue resolution, and escalation management. Assist with commissioning, turnover, and site readiness activities for IT, security, telecommunications, and building technology systems. Provide customer support and technical assistance related to infrastructure deployments, service requests, and operational issues. Support installation, configuration, validation, and troubleshooting of networking, server, wireless, and communications equipment using established deployment standards. Prepare status reports, deployment updates, inventory reports, readiness assessments, and technical documentation for stakeholders and leadership. Collaborate with internal partners to craft technology solutions to fit the project's needs. Support the Senior Manager and Lead Engineer, Information Technology, in delivering services that are essential to the success of the business. Handle additional duties as assigned by Management.
