This position is an in-office position located at our Corporate headquarters in Southfield, Michigan.

The IT Help Desk Specialist will provide first-level contact assistance to employees. The Help Desk Specialist will also provide customer service and assist employees with technical issues related to desktop computers, networking, applications, telecommunications, and related technology across our 24/7 enterprise. Responsibilities require independent analyses, prioritization, communication, and detailed problem-solving skills. This position reports to the Help Desk Supervisor and Chief Information Technology Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Performing diagnostic tests on computer hardware to identify faults and malfunctions
  • Installing and configuring hardware components to ensure usability
  • Repairing or replacing damaged hardware components
  • Testing newly installed hardware systems to verify correct operation
  • Running regular updates and cleaning routines to maintain hardware health
  • Consulting with users or IT staff to determine the nature of problems or to explain solutions
  • Documenting repairs, replacements, and maintenance procedures for future reference
  • Keeping records of computer hardware inventory and placing orders when necessary
  • Upgrading systems to enable compatibility with new software or to improve efficiency


Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a computer hardware technician or similar role
  • Thorough knowledge of computer systems and IT components
  • Familiarity with general application software and operating systems
  • Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively


Education & Experience

  • Technical degree or certification in Computer Science, IT, or relevant field A+ Certification required
  • Associate’s degree in the Information Technology field of study or equivalent work experience or certificates
  • Previous experience supporting Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Basic IP network troubleshooting competence required.
  • Experience with cell phone setup
