Chief Executive Officer @ Hempfield Technology | Managed Services, Business Development

About Hempfield Technology:

Hempfield Technology is a full-service Managed Service Provider (MSP) delivering exceptional IT solutions with a personal touch. Our motto, "Less Nerd, More Human," drives our commitment to friendly, approachable customer service. As a small but ambitious company, we’ve spent years laying the groundwork to scale our business outward. With a simplified service offering and strategic automation, we’re poised to expand into new geographic markets. This is an exciting opportunity to join us for the long haul, grow with our company, and step into leadership roles as we scale.

Job Overview:

We’re seeking a teachable IT Generalist with a passion for network infrastructure technology to join our tight-knit team at our headquarters. You’ll design, implement, and maintain network systems, manage projects, and support a broad range of IT needs in a fast-paced MSP environment. Hands-on experience in the industry is a big plus, but we value a willingness to learn above all. With strong communication skills and a client-first mindset, you’ll play a key role in our growth, with opportunities to grow professionally and potentially take on leadership roles as we expand.

Key Responsibilities:

Network Infrastructure Management: Design, deploy, and maintain secure, scalable network systems (LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPNs) keeping documentation in mind and creating knowledge base articles for others to potentially use.

Network Monitoring: Continue to build on our NMS platform. Work with automation resources to enhance and simplify onboardings.

Project Management: Lead network and IT projects (e.g., upgrades, migrations), ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and clear client communication to support our scalable service model.

Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve network and IT issues, providing support to ensure minimal downtime in an MSP environment.

General IT Support: Manage client IT environments, including servers, desktops, cloud services (Microsoft 365, Azure), and endpoints, aligning with our streamlined offerings.

Client Engagement: Build strong client relationships by communicating technical solutions clearly and delivering exceptional, human-centered service.

System Maintenance: Monitor network and IT performance, apply updates, and implement security best practices to support reliable, automated operations.

Documentation: Maintain detailed network diagrams, configurations, and project records to ensure consistency and scalability across client environments.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with our small team to deliver integrated solutions, contributing ideas to improve processes as we prepare for expansion.

Continuous Learning: Embrace training and development to master our toolset and stay ahead of emerging network and IT trends.

Qualifications:

Experience: 2+ years in IT support, systems administration, or network administration, ideally in an MSP environment, with hands-on experience with multiple network solutions.

Technical Skills (Preferred): Familiarity with network protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, DNS, DHCP) and hardware (Cisco, Ubiquiti, Fortinet, Aruba, Netgate pfSense, etc.). Experience with Auvik for network monitoring, Ubiquiti UniFi for managing access points, switches, and gateways, and/or Netgate pfSense for firewall configuration, routing, and VPN setup. Knowledge of firewalls, cybersecurity practices, and network monitoring tools.

Exposure to Windows/Linux servers, Active Directory, and cloud platforms (Microsoft 365, Azure, or AWS).

Basic skills in desktop support, hardware troubleshooting, and endpoint management.

Must Be Teachable: A strong willingness to learn and adapt, with an openness to training and mastering new tools and technologies.

Project Management: Some experience or aptitude for managing IT or network projects, including planning, execution, and client communication, preferably in an MSP context.

Certifications (Nice to Have): CompTIA Network+, CCNA, Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, or equivalent; certifications like ITIL or Fortinet NSE are a bonus but not required.

Passion: Enthusiasm for network infrastructure technology and IT systems, with a commitment to growing your skills alongside our company.

Soft Skills:

Exceptional communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical clients in a friendly, relatable way. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, client-first mindset suited for MSP demands.

Ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and client priorities in a dynamic environment.

Cultural Fit: A team player who embraces our “Less Nerd, More Human” motto, with a positive attitude, dedication to client relationships, and a desire to grow with us long-term.

Why Join Hempfield Technology?

Growth Opportunity: Join a small, ambitious company with big plans. Your growth will mirror ours, with opportunities to take on leadership roles as we expand into new markets.

People-First Culture: Be part of a supportive, collaborative team where your ideas shape our future, and your contributions are valued.

Varied Work: Tackle diverse IT challenges, from network design to hands-on support, making a tangible impact for our clients.

Professional Development: Access training, certifications, and hands-on learning to deepen your expertise.
