Job summary

Applicants should have a HS diploma and 0–2 years in IT support; a Bachelor's in IT is preferred. This on-site position includes standard benefits and the opportunity to grow within Hudbay’s IT team.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology (IT) or a related technical field preferred.
  • 0–2 years of experience in technical support, desktop support, or IT helpdesk.
  • Experience with Microsoft Desktop environments and Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

  • Hardware deployment: setup, deployment, and physical installation of workstations and IT equipment.
  • Break-fix troubleshooting: provide hands-on and remote support for hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Ticket resolution: monitor, manage, and resolve Tier 1 IT support tickets in a Microsoft Desktop environment and Google Workspace.
  • Documentation & communication: use spreadsheets, ticket tracking software, internal applications, and email to coordinate and track work with end-users.
  • Communication: manage user requests, expectations, and coordinate with external vendors for small-scale IT projects.

Purpose Of Role

Reporting directly to the IT Lead, this position is responsible for collaborative operational support and technical assistance for all staff members. The IT Assistant supports technology operations and ensures organizational connectivity and productivity across both corporate headquarters and active field locations.

Role Accountabilities
  • Hardware Deployment: Assist with the setup, deployment, and physical installation of workstations and IT equipment.

  • Ticket Resolution: Monitor, manage, and efficiently resolve Tier 1 IT support tickets in a Microsoft Desktop environment and a Google Workspace.
  • Documentation & Communication: Use spreadsheets, ticket tracking software, internal applications, and email to coordinate and track work with end-users.
  • Communication: Manage user requests, expectations, and communicate effectively with the team to ensure good service for internal clients. Coordinate with external vendors for small scale IT projects and initiatives.
Education
Minimum Qualifications and Education
  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in information technology (IT) or a related technical field.
Experience
  • 0–2 years of experience in a technical support, desktop support, or IT helpdesk role.
  • Experience with foundational tech environments, including entry-level exposure to Microsoft Desktop environments, Google Workspace, and basic computing infrastructure/networking.
Technical Knowledge
  • Trainable and Accountable: Motivated to work as part of a team in a varied mining environment. Strong willingness to absorb new technologies and procedures.
  • Team Player: Collaborative mindset with excellent interpersonal skills to support team members at all levels.
  • Tech Foundations : Entry-Level, functional proficiency in enterprise collaboration software such as Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. An entry-level understanding of computing infrastructure and networking.
