Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an IT Director in Woodbury, NY to own the technology roadmap and lead a small internal team while remaining hands-on. You will partner with business leaders across manufacturing, distribution, finance, and corporate operations to drive practical technology improvements and ensure reliable systems, ERP excellence, and risk management.

The role requires 10+ years of IT leadership, EPICOR ERP expertise, and a strong mix of infrastructure, cybersecurity, and vendor management

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive IT experience with meaningful leadership responsibility.
• Prior experience in a Director-level or comparable IT leadership role.
• Experience supporting manufacturing, distribution, or another operationally focused environment.
• Strong ERP experience with Epicor required.
• Broad working knowledge across infrastructure, networking, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, cloud services, cybersecurity, backup and recovery, and vendor management.
• Experience leading cross-functional technology projects and managing IT budgets.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with both executives and end users.
• Practical problem-solving ability and a willingness to stay close to the technology.

• Serve as the primary leader for the Epicor ERP environment, including upgrades, integrations, reporting, training, and process improvements.
• Oversee networks, servers, Microsoft 365, cloud services, telecommunications, hardware, software, and end-user technology.
• Strengthen cybersecurity, access management, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
• Manage day-to-day IT priorities and ensure issues are addressed quickly and pragmatically.
• Partner directly with manufacturing, distribution, finance, and corporate leaders to identify technology improvements.
• Evaluate and manage vendors, consultants, licensing, and managed service providers.
• Lead technology projects from idea through implementation, including planning, testing, communication, and rollout.
• Manage IT operating and capital budgets and make practical recommendations around technology investments.
• Lead and develop a small internal team of 1–2 direct reports.
• Identify useful applications for automation, analytics, AI, and other emerging technologies.

Overview

IT Director (Full Time, Direct Hire)

Woodbury, NY | Manufacturing | $140,000–$150,000 | 1–2 Direct Reports

We’re looking for an experienced IT Director who still enjoys being hands-on.

This is a great fit for someone who has led IT at the Director level but prefers a smaller-company environment where decisions move faster, priorities are visible, and you can have a direct impact on the business.

You’ll own the technology roadmap, lead a small internal team, partner closely with business leaders, and stay actively involved in the systems and projects that keep the organization running.

The environment supports approximately 270 employees across multiple locations and includes manufacturing, distribution, finance, and corporate operations.

A major focus of the role is Epicor ERP, along with infrastructure, cybersecurity, business applications, vendors, user support, and practical technology improvements.

What Makes This Role Different

This is not a large-enterprise IT position with highly specialized teams for every function. The right person will be comfortable wearing multiple hats and moving between strategy and execution. One day you may be discussing technology priorities with leadership; the next, you may be working through an Epicor issue, evaluating a vendor, reviewing a security concern, or helping drive a system implementation. You’ll have the autonomy to shape the IT function while staying close to the business and seeing the results of your work firsthand.
