GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC is offering an IT Desktop Support Graduate Placement onsite for Summer 2027–Summer 2028. The role provides hands-on experience supporting day-to-day IT operations, hardware, software, and device management in a high-performance environment.

You will work with experienced IT professionals, gain exposure to enterprise systems, and help maintain desktops, imaging, deployments, and security software while developing professional skills in a team-oriented

Qualifications

• Pursuing or completed Associate's or Bachelor's in IT, CS, or related field.
• Basic understanding of Windows 11 and Microsoft 365.
• Familiarity with computer hardware troubleshooting.
• Foundational networking knowledge: TCP/IP, VPN, Wi-Fi.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service mindset.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Proactive and eager to learn in a team setting.
• Interest in manufacturing or motorsports IT environment.
• Familiarity with remote support tools or IT asset management systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-level technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, peripherals, and software under supervision.
• Assist in diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and basic network issues.
• Support installation and configuration of desktop OS, applications, and security software.
• Help with setup and deployment of new devices, imaging, configuration, and asset tagging.
• Assist end-users with password resets and access requests.
• Maintain accurate records of support requests and inventory using ticketing systems.
• Collaborate with IT team members to resolve complex issues and assist with projects.
• Follow IT policies, procedures, and security protocols.
• Participate in training to build technical knowledge and professional skills.
• Additional tasks as needed.

Job Summary:

GM Performance Power Units is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic IT Desktop Support Graduate Placement to join our fast-growing team. This placement provides hands-on experience in a cutting-edge, high-performance environment, supporting day-to-day IT operations across the organization. The IT Desktop Support Placement will assist with troubleshooting, maintaining, and supporting desktop hardware, software, and devices to help ensure smooth and efficient operations. This role offers valuable exposure to enterprise IT systems while working closely with experienced IT professionals and end-users.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide first-level technical support for desktop and laptop computers, printers, peripherals, and software applications under supervision.
• Assist in diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and basic network connectivity issues.
• Support the installation, configuration, and updating of desktop operating systems, applications, and security software.
• Help with setup and deployment of new devices, including imaging, configuration, and asset tagging.
• Assist end-users with password resets, access requests, and general IT support inquiries.
• Maintain accurate records of support requests, resolutions, and IT inventory using ticketing systems.
• Collaborate with IT team members to escape complex issues and assist with infrastructure-related projects.
• Follow company IT policies, procedures, and security protocols.
• Participate in training and development opportunities to build technical knowledge and professional skills.
• Additional tasks as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or recently completed an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of Windows 11 and Microsoft 365 applications.
• Familiarity with computer hardware components and troubleshooting fundamentals.
• Foundational knowledge of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, VPN, and Wi‑Fi.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service mindset.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn in a team-oriented setting.
• Interest in supporting IT within manufacturing, engineering, or high-performance environments such as motorsports.
• Familiarity with remote support tools or IT asset management systems.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and move in diverse operational environments, including race shops, arenas, and commercial facilities.
• Comfortable working in variable environmental conditions, including loud, high-traffic, or high-pressure environments.
