The “IT Delivery Consultant” will serve as an in-house consultant and advisor to the US Foods’ IT function, enabling IT to deliver integrated, future-proofed, and high-quality solutions and services to the business. This role is within the Strategy & Architecture value stream and will act as a flexible technical resource, deployed as needed to diagnose issues and develop solutions for complex, high-risk, high-priority cross-functional initiatives. Based on extensive IT experience, the “IT Consultant” will support strategic opportunity discovery and intake requests to inform USF IT’s strategic planning, aligned with enterprise-wide priorities.

This role requires a skilled technology generalist with diverse experience across business architecture and modern IT practices. Candidates should demonstrate curiosity, a growth mindset, and maintain broad knowledge of US Foods’s evolving landscape, IT’s strategic priorities, products, services, customers, and technology environment. As “IT Consultants” often solve complex and urgent issues, they must be quick learners, thrive in ambiguity, and be effective change leaders and communicators. They should develop and maintain strategic partnerships with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and senior leadership to assess root causes, connect dots, and develop successful solutions.

This position is remote/virtual, allowing work from anywhere in the United States except Hawaii or US Territories.

Responsibilities
  • Act as an internal consultant across IT and the Business, leading analytical efforts with extensive IT knowledge to identify issues, frame problems, and provide strategic, data-driven recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with IT and Business stakeholders.
  • Identify critical data, skills, expertise, and feedback required for effective root cause analysis and engage relevant solution partners.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis for complex, high-priority issues, partnering closely with stakeholders, SMEs, customers, and business leaders.
  • Advise on end-to-end process design and recommend application and system strategies to streamline business processes.
  • Coach product teams on application interdependencies and develop clear documentation for understanding interdependencies.
  • Transform ambiguous inputs into actionable plans and facilitate operational readiness to meet IT and business objectives.
  • Report findings and recommendations to senior leadership to secure buy-in and align on strategies.
  • Support solution implementation through requirement documentation, validation, and stakeholder coaching.
  • Serve as a change leader, advising on communication, escalation, and change management plans.
  • Partner with stakeholders and the Strategy team to stay informed of pain points, market trends, and external regulations impacting IT.
  • Develop recommendations for scoping and prioritizing intake requests, including timelines, deliverables, resourcing, and costs.
  • Support IT-wide strategic planning and prioritization of initiatives based on previous project learnings.
  • Lead and mentor junior “IT Consultants” and promote industry best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervision

N/A; this is an individual contributor role without direct reports.

Relationships
  • Internal: IT Leadership, C-Suite, Product Delivery, Solution and Technical Architects, Business Stakeholders, Strategy team, Communications, Change Management, HR, Legal, Compliance, and others.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 8+ years in IT/technology-related roles.
  • 5+ years in advisory roles such as IT consulting, operations, project management, or process improvement.
  • Experience managing projects, stakeholders, and serving as an IT liaison across various business functions.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, systems, tools, and business principles.
  • Broad experience in business architecture, digital tech, transformation, and IT strategy.
  • Proven program management skills and ability to implement strategic initiatives.
  • Excellent strategic partnering and change leadership skills.
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving complex issues with minimal information.
  • Comfortable presenting to C-Suite stakeholders.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Business, Operations, Finance, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Previous IT consulting experience.
  • Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.

Compensation varies based on experience, skills, location, and other factors. The expected base salary range is $130,000 to $180,000, plus annual bonuses, incentives, and long-term incentives.
