Position Summary

Independently, with moderate supervision, performs low to medium complexity assignments using various tools and techniques of data analytics including data analysis and problem solving, data mapping, data modeling, and data governance.


Responsible for the company's data management, ensuring that the data that underlies an organization is available, accurate, complete and secure. This includes the processes, people and technology that will provide effective data management. Reviews existing data models to understand current environment. Creates conceptual, logical, and physical master data models (entity-relationship diagrams). Must be able to reverse engineer the existing data structure and create the Entity Relationships. Review and evolve the data models by collaborating with Stakeholders.

What You'll Do:

This is an opportunity for an IT Data Modeler to focus on data needs in the Commercial IT department. You will work with project teams in Commercial IT to understand what data elements will be needed for the projects, and implement any updates as necessary by creating Conceptual, Logical, and Physical data models. Having an analyst work across a couple scrum teams can be beneficial in ensuring the collection and understanding of requirements to align business needs and technical needs.

Preferred Experience & Skills:

• Conceptual, Logical, and Physical data modelling experience preferred

• Business Analysis/Requirements gathering experience preferred

• Experience with SQL server and Oracle database platforms preferred

• DDL generation/maintenance knowledge preferred

• Familiarity with the following tools preferred

o ERwin

o Visio

o Excel

o Enterprise Business Agility Training

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Creates efficient technology agnostic conceptual and logical data model. s for relational (OLTP), dimensional (OLAP) systems.
  • Creates data attributes & definitions by eliciting business requirements or leveraging existing definitions from metadata tools such as Information Governance Catalog (IGC).
  • Creates efficient physical data models optimal for technologies such as NoSQL and relational databases (RDBMS) in association with database engineers and database administrators.
  • Creates and maintains review and feedback channels on the data models with stakeholders, project leads, data architects, lead analysts, and other team members.

Qualifications

Minimum Educational and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, MIS, Business or related field, plus two years' related experience; or
  • Associate's degree in a technical field, plus four years' related experience; or
  • High school diploma plus six years' related experience required.
