Job summary

The Brennan Center for Justice is seeking an IT and Cybersecurity Intern to assist with day-to-day IT operations and cybersecurity initiatives in our New York office. This internship offers hands-on experience for undergraduate students and involves supporting IT team members with various tasks including help desk support, AV setups, and basic networking.

Compensation is $18.40 per hour for 10-20 hours/week from September to December 2026. We aim to provide a diverse and inclusive environment where all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Interest in learning about cybersecurity tools.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist the IT and Security team with operations and monitoring.
• Provide help desk support to staff, troubleshooting technical issues.
• Provide AV support for meetings and events.
• Assist with basic networking tasks, including troubleshooting connectivity.
• Help manage security tools and maintain documentation.

Skills

Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles

Familiarity with Windows and macOS operating systems

Familiarity with Microsoft 365 (Office), Zoom, and Slack

Strong problem-solving skills

Excellent communication skills
