Job summary

WEC Energy Group is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer in Milwaukee, WI, with a hybrid work arrangement (remote/on-site). The role sits in a family of IT Cybersecurity Analyst levels, with compensation aligned to experience.

The ideal candidate will design and manage cloud security programs, enforce policies, and automate security operations while collaborating with cross-functional teams to strengthen the organization’s security posture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, information technology, computer information systems, MIS, or engineering is preferred; cybersecurity certifications may be considered in lieu.
• 2+ years of cybersecurity experience required.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and applies standards for security configuration and layered defense of cloud resources.
• Designs, implements and manages security solutions for cloud environments.
• Enforces cloud security policies based on best practices and industry frameworks.
• Implements security controls including network segmentation, data protection, and threat detection.
• Automates security operations using scripting and infrastructure as code (IaC).
• Deploys and configures cloud-native security tools such as firewalls and IAM.
• Tracks and reports KPIs related to cloud security.
• Collects and analyzes security audit logs.
• Monitors and responds to cloud security incidents and vulnerabilities.
• Keeps up to date with cloud security trends and technologies.
• Collaborates with teams to improve security posture.

This position is part of a job family (IT Cybersecurity Analyst, Senior IT Cybersecurity Analyst, and Principal IT Cybersecurity Analyst) where experience will be the determining factor.

Job Responsibilities

• Establishes and implements appropriate standards for the security configuration and layered defense of cloud resources.
• Design, implement, and manage security solutions for cloud-based environments.
• Inform and enforce cloud security policies and procedures based best practices and industry frameworks.
• Implement and manage security controls such as network segmentation, data protection, intrusion protection and threat detection.
• Automate security operations using scripting and infrastructure as code (IaC) techniques.
• Deploy and configure cloud-native security tools and solutions such as firewalls, encryption, identity and access management.
• Ensure KPIs related to cloud security are accurately tracked and reported.
• Collect, manage, and analyze security audit logs.
• Monitor and respond to security incidents and vulnerabilities in cloud infrastructures.
• Stay informed of latest trends, tools and techniques in the field of cloud infrastructure security and networking, defense in depth and automation.
• Collaborate with other teams to resolve security issues and improve overall security posture.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, information technology, computer information systems, MIS, or engineering is preferred. A combination of associate degree, military or professional cybersecurity experience and cybersecurity certification (CISSP, GAIC, MCSE, CEH, GICSP, CSSA, CISM) will be considered.
• 2+ years Cybersecurity experience

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of working experience in Cloud and Cyber Security
• Strong understanding of cloud security principles, architectures and security best practices (CIS/NIST).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay Range Minimum: $78,702.26

Pay Range Maximum: $156,125.32

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs. At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
