Job description

Role: IT Controls Tester
Rate: Inside IR35
Location: 3-4 days a week onsite in London
Duration: 6-month initial contract

Job Purpose and Primary Objectives

We are seeking an experienced IT controls testing professional to work on testing IT controls for a UK Financial Institution. The work involves manually testing IT controls related to perimeter, important business services, resilience, and data.

The ideal candidate will have a CISA certification, strong IT domain understanding, knowledge of IT control frameworks, and regulatory understanding. They should be able to engage effectively with control owners to drive efficient testing and rigorous reporting. This role requires technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and stakeholder engagement skills to ensure effective testing of the transformed IT control framework.

Key Responsibilities

1. Review all supporting documents (procedure documents, control descriptions, policies, workflows, etc.) and request missing ones.
2. Optionally perform IT Control Walkthroughs to validate understanding.
3. Prepare the IT Control Test plan, including procedures and sample sizes.
4. Align the test plan with control owners before execution.
5. Execute IT Control Testing (TOD, TOE).
6. Document the results.
7. Conduct internal quality checks.
8. Update Control Testing Closure in the Allocation Tracker.
9. Provide optional failure remediation support to control owners.

Key Skills and Knowledge

• Knowledge of the IT domain, IT control frameworks, and regulations.
• Understanding of control and regulatory frameworks (e.g., NIST, PS21/3, COBIT, DORA).
• Analytical skills.
• Methodical approach to IT control testing.

Experience Required

• Proven experience in independently conducting IT controls testing, from scheduling to managing working papers.
• Experience addressing challenges like control owner availability, ownership issues, and complex reporting.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) for reporting and governance.
