Job summary

AttainX, Inc. seeks an IT Configuration Management Specialist II to support DHS CISA IRME in Arlington, VA. The role maintains baselines, manages changes, and ensures auditability across software and systems in a hybrid telework setup with government approval.

You'll handle configuration items, version control, and release validation, collaborating with admins, developers, and service owners to maintain secure, compliant environments.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in information technology, information systems, computer science, or a related field is preferred; equivalent education, training, and relevant experience will be considered.
  • 2-4 years of related experience in IT configuration management, change control, release management, or related operations support.
  • Experience identifying configuration items and maintaining baselines, inventories, relationships, versions, and change histories.
  • Knowledge of version control, integration builds, configuration audits, and release validation.
  • Ability to verify approvals and maintain traceability between requests, configuration items, documentation, and releases.
  • Familiarity with patching, vulnerability remediation, security authorization evidence, and operational handoffs.
  • Superior analytical and documentation skills; experience with a configuration management database or IT service management tools is preferred.
  • Federal software baselines and DHS Technology Reference Model experience are preferred.
  • ITIL 4 Foundation certification is preferred; ServiceNow Certified System Administrator certification is also preferred for experience supporting ServiceNow configuration management and CMDB administration.
  • Must be a US Citizen able to obtain and maintain a DHS CISA IRME Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain configuration identification, inventories, software versions, dependencies, and approved system and application baselines.
  • Execute change control so that only approved and validated changes enter software, system configurations, and project documentation.
  • Maintain configuration records or a configuration management database, as applicable; reconcile discrepancies with administrators, developers, and service owners.
  • Audit configuration items, version control, integration builds, and release records; document findings and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Support patch management, emergency fixes, upgrades, enhancements, and deployment by maintaining approvals, validation evidence, and configuration histories.
  • Document software configurations against Federal and DHS standards; verify software approval through the DHS Technology Reference Model process.
  • Provide configuration evidence for security authorization, scans, vulnerability remediation, and Plans of Action and Milestones tracking.
  • Coordinate baseline updates following approved remediation and releases; identify unauthorized changes and escalated risks.
  • Support licensing renewal records, service dependencies, and information sharing or interconnectivity documentation as assigned.
  • Maintain procedures, administrative documentation, and reports; support cutover planning, Technology Operations Center coordination, help desk readiness, and Tier 1 knowledge transfer.

IT Configuration Management Specialist II

Full Time Professional Arlington, VA, US

Salary Range: $81,000.00 To $83,000.00 Annually

Job Title: Configuration Management Specialist

Location: Remote/Hybrid - DHS CISA and authorized contractor facilities — 4200 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, VA 22203 and 4601 N. Fairfax Drive, Arlington, VA 22203. Telework only with Government approval.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday.

Security Requirements: Tier 4 background investigation required; must obtain and maintain a favorable DHS/CISA IRME suitability/fitness determination/public trust and required facility and system access.

Work Authorization: U.S. citizenship required for DHS IT system access. Must be authorized to work in the United States.

AttainX is seeking a Configuration Management Specialist to support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), Infrastructure and Risk Modeling Environment (IRME). This role maintains reliable software and system configuration records and controls changes during operations and sustainment. The specialist supports approved baselines, release readiness, auditability, security remediation, and continuity of services.
