Job summary

The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) IT DAS division is seeking an IT Client Support Specialist 2 for on-site work at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, with potential remote work up to two days per week with manager approval. This role supports both local and remote users and contributes to mission-critical IT services.

Lease note, this position requires full-time on-site work at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson to facilitate collaboration with various divisions supported by DAS' IT Section. Remote work may be permitted up to two days a week, subject to the hiring manager’s approval, and successful completion of probation.

As a member of the IT team at DMVA's DAS division, your responsibilities include delivering comprehensive end-user and desktop support, managing network services for both local and remote users, and assisting with the planning, setup, configuration, and maintenance of servers, networks, microcomputers, printers, and telecom equipment. You will work under the supervision of the Microcomputer/Network Specialist, ensuring seamless operation and support of IT systems vital to the department's mission.

Special Note

The successful applicants must pass a federal background check in order to qualify for military base access, which is required with this position's work location on base. The background check may include fingerprinting. All job offers are conditional pending successful completion of the federal background check and issuance of a Defense Biometrics Identification System (DBIDS) card allowing base access. Also, you must be able to maintain the clearance throughout your employment. If using a private vehicle this will require a valid Alaska Driver License, proof of vehicle insurance, and a valid State of Alaska vehicle registration.

State employees are guests on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson; clearance and access are not within the State's control.
