Job summary

Nunez Community College seeks an IT Applications Developer to support and advance the Office of State Examiner technology, including the Jurisdiction Management System and testing databases.

This role leads development using Power Apps, SQL Server, and Microsoft Access, with continuous improvement driven by stakeholder feedback and user support.

Qualifications

• Three years of IT experience OR six years in any field plus one year IT experience.
• Associate's degree in IT plus one year IT experience.
• Bachelor's degree plus one year IT experience.
• Bachelor's degree with 24 semester hours in IT/CS/engineering/math or analytics.
• Master's degree.
• EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: 30 semester hours = 1 year; max 120 semester hours.
• ACCEPTED: Certification may substitute for education/experience at hire.

Responsibilities

• Use Power Apps as a primary coding tool.

Job description

At the Office of State Examiner, Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service, our mission is to provide support and guidance to local jurisdictions who administer an effective, cost-efficient civil service system based upon merit, efficiency, fitness, and length of service, consistent with the law and professional standards, for firefighters and police officers in the State, in order to provide a continuity in quality of law enforcement and fire protection for the citizens of the State in rural and urban areas.

We are looking for an IT Applications Developer to join our team. The IT Application Developer will support and advance OSE's technology systems, including the new Jurisdiction Management System and testing databases. This position leads the development, integration, and maintenance of applications using Microsoft Power Apps, SQL Server, Microsoft Access and cloud-based solutions through system analysis, user support, troubleshooting, vendor coordination, and continuous improvement based upon stakeholder feedback.

• Three years of experience in information technology; OR

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:

• Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

• A certification in an approved area may be substituted for the education and/or experience requirements at the time of hire or promotion, provided the appointment is made from a Certificate of Eligibles.

Job Duties

As an IT Applications Developer, you will be instrumental in providing leadership in the design, development, coding, and administration of OSE's enterprise applications, including JMS and testing platforms. In this role you will,

• Develop custom code and scripts to build, enhance and maintain databases
• Use Microsoft Power Apps as a primary coding tool
• Oversee the integration of Power Apps, SQL Server, and cloud-based or third-party solutions
• Leverage coding best practices to optimize system performance and automate business processes
• Engage with OSE leadership, staff, stakeholders and public users to proactively access needs, gather feedback, and dive continuous improvement of technology solutions
• Oversee application lifecycle management, including security protocols, performance optimization, and user interface enhancements
• Evaluate emerging technologies and strategic vendor partnerships to advance OSE’s technology capabilities.

Work Schedule: Work hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday - Friday
