Description : To research, evaluate, design, implement, and maintain system and product solutions, applying knowledge of engineering principles. To provide technical direction and engineering support for projects and infrastructure. Develop and maintain expert functional knowledge of evolving IT engineering industry technologies, concepts, and trends.
This position will be part of the SMD System Support team responsible for the systems used by the credit union's Savings & Membership Department, with the following responsibilities:
- Responsible for full life-cycle project management of server-based applications used by the Savings & Membership Department.
- Provide on-call support during outages and for scheduled change and deployment work.
- Collaborate with project teams, including engineering, networking, database administration, enterprise data management, enterprise architecture, data center operations, application owners, project management, and compliance, to develop and maintain engineering principles in system design and enhancement.
- Document new system components or modifications to existing components.
- Ensure security and integrity of system and product solutions, complying with Navy Federal, industry, engineering, and Information Security principles and practices.
- Perform engineering tasks supporting business needs, including research, procurement, deployment, and configuration of systems.
- Present information clearly to all audiences to facilitate effective business decisions.
- Lead complex troubleshooting and incident resolution involving multiple teams.
- Translate business needs into workable technology solutions for internal customers.
- Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years supporting complex technical applications in a production environment, including troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- At least 2 years working with Linux systems and shell programming.
- Experience with SQL, Toad, Splunk, and alert/event monitoring is a plus.
- Experience with payment systems is a plus.
- Proficiency in Windows and AIX server platforms is a plus.
- Experience with server-based application support and maintenance, including vulnerability patching, access control, upgrades, and change management.
- Full systems engineering lifecycle experience.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to mentor junior staff.
