Are you seeking more than just another IT Analyst BI Developer role? At the University of Virginia, our Senior BI Developer in Transplant is a vital team member who collaborates closely with front-line staff to address real-world challenges and directly enhance outcomes for patients and providers. Key Responsibilities
  1. Participate in cross-functional performance improvement teams, ensuring data analysis, accuracy, and availability.
  2. Consult with staff at all levels to solve problems and contribute to organizational projects through data analysis and presentation.
  3. Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders as the lead developer for outcomes metrics, ensuring metadata accuracy, metric development, data validation, and maintenance.
  4. Gather business requirements, design, code, validate, deploy, and maintain semantic layers and metadata for complex reports and reporting tools.
  5. Utilize tools such as Microsoft SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, SAP Crystal Reports, Epic Reporting Workbench, Extract Framework, Radar Dashboards, and Tableau to develop BI solutions.
  6. Develop SQL code, preferably Microsoft T-SQL.
  7. Use tools like Microsoft Excel, R, and Minitab for data analysis.
  8. Design data collection tools suited to specific parameters.
  9. Perform system administration tasks including building, testing, and supporting upgrades or patches.
  10. Follow team and departmental quality standards and best practices.
  11. Monitor work queues and triage requests, ensuring coverage as needed.
  12. Participate in governance and change control activities.
  13. Provide guidance and training to less experienced team members.
  14. Coach users on BI tools.
  15. Adapt to changing priorities and organizational constraints.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Details

Compensation Range: $86,049.60 - $137,675.20 annually

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • 5-7 years relevant experience, with a good understanding of relational databases
  • Proficiency in T-SQL, Microsoft Excel, and Word
  • Experience with large datasets and data analysis tools
  • Ability to learn new software as required
Additional Information

No licensure required; Epic certification preferred.

Physical Demands

This is primarily a sedentary role involving extensive use of computers. Occasional travel to meetings may be required.
