Job summary

Collabera Inc. is seeking an Issue Triage Engineer to support vehicle-level testing, validation, and debugging for an automotive client in Troy, MI. The role emphasizes hands-on work with vehicle networks, ECU integration, and issue triage.

You will develop scripts for test automation, analyze CAN/LIN/Automotive Ethernet logs, and collaborate with internal teams and customers to resolve system-level issues, ensuring robust vehicle validation in lab and on-road environments.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and triage issues identified during VSYS4 and VSYS5 vehicle-level testing and assign ownership to the appropriate teams.
  • Perform system-level debugging and root cause analysis using logs, traces, and test results.
  • Support vehicle integration, ECU bring-up, and validation activities.
  • Review system designs and coordinate test case development based on system requirements.
  • Develop scripts and automation tools for test automation, diagnostics, data analysis, and workflow optimization.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot automotive communication networks, including CAN, LIN, and Automotive Ethernet.
  • Work with internal engineering teams and external customers to summarize and resolve vehicle issues.
  • Review and maintain test data processing scripts and documentation.

Pay Rate: $30-40/hr

Position Summary:

We are looking for an Issue Triage Engineer to support vehicle-level testing, validation, and debugging activities for advanced automotive systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with vehicle communication networks, ECU integration, and issue troubleshooting in vehicle environments. This role requires strong analytical skills, scripting experience, and the ability to collaborate with internal engineering teams and customers to identify and resolve system-level issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and triage issues identified during VSYS4 and VSYS5 vehicle-level testing and assign ownership to the appropriate teams.
  • Perform system-level debugging and root cause analysis using logs, traces, and test results.
  • Support vehicle integration, ECU bring-up, and validation activities.
  • Review system designs and coordinate test case development based on system requirements.
  • Develop scripts and automation tools for test automation, diagnostics, data analysis, and workflow optimization.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot automotive communication networks, including CAN, LIN, and Automotive Ethernet.
  • Work with internal engineering teams and external customers to summarize and resolve vehicle issues.
  • Review and improve instrumentation and testing processes for vehicle validation activities.
  • Identify common failure patterns and recommend process improvements.
  • Support vehicle testing, data collection, and validation in both laboratory and on-road environments.
  • Review and maintain test data processing scripts and documentation.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related automotive field.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in automotive engineering, vehicle integration, validation, or testing (2+ years preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with automotive communication protocols:
    • CAN
    • LIN
    • Automotive Ethernet
  • Experience with ECU integration and vehicle-level testing.
  • Strong debugging, issue triage, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Programming and scripting experience using Python.
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB and Simulink.
  • Experience with CANoe and/or CANalyzer.
  • Ability to analyze network communication logs and troubleshoot system issues.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to operate development vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with CAPL scripting and CANoe automation.
  • Knowledge of ADAS systems and vehicle sensors such as radar and cameras.
  • Understanding of signal processing and vehicle dynamics.
  • Experience with issue-tracking tools such as Jira.
  • Experience with embedded software debugging.
  • Knowledge of C++ and model-based development.
  • Understanding of functional safety concepts and automotive product development processes.
  • Experience writing and reviewing requirements and test cases.
