Job summary

AMERICAN SYSTEMS in Newport, Rhode Island, is seeking an experienced Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to provide cybersecurity and systems engineering support across the acquisition lifecycle.

Responsibilities include planning and conducting T&E events, analyzing results, supporting RMF and cyber hardening, and traveling to government and vendor sites as required. Qualified candidates hold an Active Secret clearance and 3+ years in related fields.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity, CS, IT, or related field.
• Active Secret clearance or eligibility for reinstatement.
• 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, systems engineering, or related fields.
• Experience planning and executing T&E activities and verifying corrective actions.
• Familiarity with DoD/DoW acquisition processes, including post-Milestone C support.

Responsibilities

• Provide cybersecurity and systems engineering support throughout the system lifecycle.
• Support DoD/DoW acquisition activities and testing.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute T&E events including cybersecurity tests.
• Develop and review test plans, procedures, and data requirements.
• Analyze test results to identify vulnerabilities and remediation needs.
• Support regression testing and verification of corrective actions.
• Review requirements and configuration changes for cybersecurity impact.
• Support Linux and Windows systems administration in tactical environments.
• Suggest improvements to security readiness and risk posture.
• Prepare technical briefings, status reports, and risk summaries.
• Assist with RMF, program protection, and supply chain risk management.
