Job summary

Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) seeks an Information System Security Engineer to design, secure, and validate DoD RMF controls across cloud environments. You will collaborate with system admins and developers to identify vulnerabilities, and manage ACAS, Splunk, Defender, and ClamAV to ensure security compliance.

Onsite 3 days per week in Raleigh, NC or San Antonio, TX. You will engage in mentorship and cross-training to grow technical skills while defending critical DoD systems against

Qualifications

• US citizenship is required.
• Active DoD Secret Clearance required at time of hire.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
• 2–4 years of relevant work experience with bachelor’s degree (or 0–2 with master's).
• Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work onsite 3 days per week in Raleigh, NC or San Antonio, TX.

Responsibilities

• Identify and remediate cybersecurity vulnerabilities with admins, developers, and customers.
• Manage tools such as ACAS, Splunk, Microsoft Defender, and Clam AV to monitor health and assess compliance.
• Apply DISA STIGs, SRGs, and DoD security requirements to harden systems and maintain compliance.
