Job summary

Summer Grove Elementary School in Shreveport, LA seeks an In-School Suspension Aide to supervise the ISS room and support students with conflict resolution and social/emotional strategies to return to class with a positive attitude.

The role involves assisting with academic assignments, maintaining a structured environment, and coordinating with teachers and administrators. 170 workdays per year; salary range listed. Experience with children is preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years college (48 hours minimum) including 9 hours of Mathematics and 9 hours of English or an Associate degree/or higher.
• Some previous experience working with children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complies with State Law and District policies and regulations.
• Maintains a safe environment for students, conducive to learning.
• Establishes, shares, and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
• Keeps and maintains appropriate records and files as needed for the ISS room.
• Assist the administration in the collecting and returning of teacher assignments for students assigned to in-school suspension without interrupting classroom instruction.
• Maintains a structured environment, within ISS room (including student’s attendance, rules and maintaining a quiet learning environment.)
• Hold students responsible for finishing and correcting all work assigned.
• Assist in constantly monitoring students, by remaining in the ISS room with them at all times.
