Job summary

Copperas Cove ISD is seeking an ISS Aide for Copperas Cove High School to supervise students assigned to In-School Suspension and assist a certified teacher. You will work under the principal's supervision to maintain a productive environment for students removed from their classroom.

Under the guidance of staff, you will help with assignments, monitor behavior per policies and IEPs, and support clerical tasks while ensuring confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Must have 48 hours of college credit or an associate's degree or higher, or a HS/GED with Region 12 Paraprofessional Academy certificate.
• Ability to work well with children and follow verbal/written instructions; proficient with a computer.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students assigned to ISS program during lunch and bathroom breaks.
• Work with certified teacher and campus administrators to provide an environment for students removed from their classroom.
• Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and IEPs.
• Assist with classroom assignments and consult with teachers regarding student work.
• Assist with office clerical duties as needed and maintain confidentiality.

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Supervise students assigned to In-School Suspension (ISS) program for disciplinary reasons. Work under the general supervision of the principal and immediate direction of a certified teacher.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

• Must have one of the following:
• 48 hours of college credit, or
• Associate's Degree or higher, or HS or GED with Region 12 Paraprofessional Academy certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Ability to work well with children
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Ability to use personal computer

Experience:

• One year experience as classroom aide.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Work with certified teacher and campus administrators to provide an environment for students removed from their classroom.
• Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and Individual Education Plans (IEP).
• Work with individual students to complete assignments given by classroom teacher.
• Consult classroom teachers regarding student assignments.
• Supervise students assigned to ISS program (in-school suspension) during lunch and bathroom breaks.
• Assist in supervising students during the school day, both inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom and bus duty.
• Assist with office clerical duties as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Mental Demands: Reading; ability to follow instructions (written and verbal), communicate effectively, use personal computer, and maintain emotional control under stress.
• Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Moderate standing, stooping, and bending.
