Position Summary
Certified and trained forklift operator. Operates 20' ISO tanks/containers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operates forklifts to move intermodal equipment on/off chassis and put into/out of storage.
- Documents location of equipment utilizing equipment tracking systems (Depot Systems).
- Updates electronic equipment tracking systems.
- Ensures equipment is in proper working order and documents inspections of equipment, reporting discrepancies.
- Maintains daily inspection log(s) for equipment and reports exceptions; ensures equipment receives periodic maintenance.
- Handles product temperature requirements.
- Fills and delivers material vouchers to production crews.
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment failures.
- Possesses basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic components.
- Performs facility and grounds maintenance.
- Utilizes computerized maintenance systems.
- Communicates effectively with dispatchers and drivers to ensure production and customer needs are met.
- Follows safety procedures and promotes a safe environment for employees.
- Complies with established ISO standards when required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Reports directly to the Depot Manager.
Requirements – Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
- Current certification in operations of required forklift and related equipment.
- Adequate computer skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills.
- Preferred experience in driving and operating a container lift.
Essential Qualifications
- Ability to work outside in variable weather conditions.
- Ability to follow spoken and written instruction.
- Ability to safely perform all tasks and understand company safety policies and procedures.
- Dependable transportation required and ability to work a flexible schedule, including overtime, weekends, nights, and holidays.
- Employment contingent upon passing required Safety Council training examinations and all pre‑employment screenings (e.g., drug screen).
Physical Demands
- Requires manual dexterity and continuous physical activity throughout the day.
- Must lift up to 50 pounds and handle various objects.
- Ability to carry, bend, stoop, turn, kneel, crawl, climb a ladder, and perform other manual labor activities.
- Must maintain a constant state of alertness and operate safely.
