Job summary

Nantucket Cottage Hospital, part of Mass General Brigham, is seeking a pharmacist to join its small rural hospital on Nantucket island. The role involves on-site day shifts, sterile compounding, drug information, order review, and collaboration with the inter-disciplinary care team to support island residents and visitors.

The ideal candidate has a pharmacy degree, Massachusetts license, and hospital experience; on-call responsibilities and vaccines/education duties are included.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy required.
• Massachusetts license to practice pharmacy required.
• Hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
• On-call, second shift, and weekend work may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform sterile compounding (Hazardous and non-Hazardous) per USP <797>, <800> and regulations.
• Review and dispense medications according to policies and procedures.
• Evaluate orders for strength, dose and administration.
• Respond to codes and emergencies and assist in patient education.
• Collaborate with nursing and medical staff to ensure safe pharmacotherapy.
• Maintain complete records for controlled substances and ensure compliance.
